My hair is something that I constantly obsess about. It’s either too greasy or too poofy. It looks masculine too. I often day dream about how my life would be perfect if it was straight and silky. I love my life and everything else about my appearance but my hair is constantly something I give myself a lot of self negative talk about. I only want to date guys with silky straight hair to make up for what I lack and wish I had.

I want to know how perfect hair feels because I’ll never have it so why not date a guy with the gorgeous hair I day dream about having?

I sort of like my hair but it is quite wavey. I cant have bangs because they would wing out. I envy women with straight hair because they can get a short haircut and it will look good. I have to keep my hair kind of longish.

This is my hideous and masculine natural hair

This is my hair when it’s professionally straightened and how I wish it was naturally

I think straight hair makes my face look odd though

I don't see any masculinity in your hair , the natural waves in your hair suit you.

Love the earrings btw.

I don't see anything wrong in your hair, on contrary, it looks beautiful. I have very straight hair and I wish I have waves and some volume.

I had the same problem, until I started doing "no poo" (look it up, it's a thing).

When you use shampoo, it strips away all of your natural oils, so your body makes up for it by producing far too much. There are alternative ways to clean your hair without using detergents. It takes about a month for your body to get used to it (you will have gross hair for a while), but after that, it's really nice. My hair is never oily and gross anymore.

It's common in autism to find a perceived flaw in something and become preoccupied with it. And even if 500 people tell you your hair looks good (me being one of them) your perception of the flaw is still going to exist. Really the only thing you can do mentally that I know of is forcing yourself to stop acknowledging the problem. And there's lots of articles on how to retrain your brain. I have pretty bad tinnitus, which is ringing in the ears. So I had to retrain my brain to ignore the ringing, instead of the more natural inclination to be agitated by it.

You look lovely with straight hair, nothing wrong with it whatsoever.

Your natural hair looks concordant with your other features. I hope you can learn to love it.

Curly or wavy hair does require some special considerations. Select a shampoo with no sulfates (you have to read the label). I have been using OGX Quenching Coconut Curls (I think that's the name, and also the matching conditioner).

I comb it out after washing with a so-called detangler comb, which is a comb with large, well-separated teeth. You can bring out the waves by working a little styling product (mousse or gel) into the tresses and then patting them or scrunching them into waves, and then air drying. Another option is to braid your hair while it is still slightly damp and let it dry in braids. When unbraided, you have lovely curls. It is recommended you don't brush the hair, which stretches it out and removes the curls. But I do brush mine because I have brushed my hair my whole life and I like to stimulate the scalp that way.

If you don't clean and style your hair with special consideration to its curliness, you end up with a headful of frizz. (What you called poof.)
