Hawaii has been part of the USA since August 21, 1959.

Hawaii is a US state, but at least people there get to live far away from the rest of the country where most of the insanity is.

Oh wow, I never would have known that seeing as I'm actually Hawaiian myself.

At least they are far away from the mainland and they aren't dominated by white Americans who think they're the only ones with the right to be anywhere.

That late!? Gee, I feel like I had a horrible gap in general knowledge... but to my defense I'll point out that I'm not American so... am I forgiven?

Did I mention before that some Americans told me that I'm not American because of my Hawaiian ancestry? Ironic, isn't it?

My dad has been referred to as an Island n****r and I have been called a White Island n****r.

Yeah, go figure.

Hawaii is our 50th state.

It was an independent kingdom which was famous in the 18th-19th century.

Then, the US annexed it around the mid to late 19th century.

The lowest all-time temperature at Honolulu Airport is 53 degrees Fahrenheit.

I wish I could move to Hawaii and get away from all this crap in the mainland.

Yet you implied that Hawaii is not part of the USA in your forst post of this thread -- e.g., "... somewhere else. Like Hawaii...".

Think again. I've been to Hawaii. Except for a few of the outlying areas, the ha'oli have the run of the place.

I hear Canada is a nice place to live, especially for disgruntled American expats.

Do you still have relatives in Hawaii, Twisty?

I went on a cruise there--and went to Maui, Hawaii, Oahu, and Kauai

It would still likely have some negative effects on Hawaii if the U.S collapsed considering it is a state.

I honestly have no idea. My Dad left after I was born and I only visited him once in my life when I was about 12 years old. His family never had anything to do with me and they all live in North Carolina.

I honestly don't know much about Hawaii (but I'm not so goddamn stupid that I wouldn't know it's a US state. ).

I would love to go there one day but it's very expensive for somebody like me. :(

Depending on how the election goes things could get worse though. I mean under Trump administration and the EPA can just up and decide to remove mercury protections from coal fired plants...because why should the public be protected from inhaling mercury? If less stringent regulations would save the corporate/fossil fuel overlords a few bucks, whats a few cases of mercury poisoning. If we get another 4 years of trump it'll just get worse and the EPA likely will live up even more to its new name the EDA(environmental destruction agency)

Hopefully we will get a better president...that can fix and or dismantle the EPA and create an organization that is actually based on protecting the environment and american citizens from environmental threats. Not some sham organization ran by former coal and fossil fuel lobbyists that only care about $$$$ not wellbeing of the citizens.

The Hawaii where I hung out was very much like the remainder of the United States.

I hope you get to go there some day.
