So I've been through a lot the past couple of years. After graduating college and moving back to San Diego, I started having problems with a close college friend (see my topic "What did I do wrong?" in Love & Dating), my grandfather came down with cancer, my grandmother broke her leg, and I had to become a caretaker to them. I have been struggling with finding full time work the past couple of years, and now may be moving to Washington state to work with the federal government. My grandparents will be selling the house and moving into assisted living. I have been trying to make friends and even date the past couple of years, but with taking care of my grandparents and finding full time work, I don't have the time. I stay in contact with college friends, but it just isn't the same as when we were all together.

This all has me nervous and stressed out, and it makes me wonder: Why do things like this happen? Is it meant to make me stronger, or to direct me to a new chapter in my life? What do you all think?

That is very compassionate of you to be a caregiver for your dad and grandmother. Being a care giver is a labor of love. There is no hidden meaning or hidden reason why you're going through what you're going through. It sounds tough regardless. There is always time for life to change for the better and allow you what you wanna do with your life. Just got to be patient. It will come when it comes.

I can't answer the 'what's going on?'

I can tell you that you'll never regret being compassionate towards your grandparents.
