I used to be my single greatest accomplishment.. but that lasted mere months before this little guy took over.
Meet my youngest God son (until his baby brother is born) who turns 8 years old today & is Very neurotypical thanks to my intervening in his health & well being ~7 years ago. (Pic is from April 22nd)
At ~1 year old, after being given a potent course of antibiotics to kill off a massive systemic infection that he likely contracted in the hospital the day he was born, he was alive - but notably different. I recognized very obvious signs of infant autism development & knew full well that if there’s an inherited component it came from his maternal grandmother. Anyways, I knew that the antibiotics had tripped this ASD development And, more importantly, what to do about it.
I impressed upon his parents that because his gut health was destroyed that they needed to feed him organic coconut oil as a gentle anti-fungal & to load his food with a multi-strain probiotic. I reminded his mother every day for several weeks - and they listened, and did so. Watching him recover from the brink of ASD to a normally developing infant was like watching an unwatered plant bounce back to life once you’re back from vacation and taking care of it again.
Fast forward to April 22nd 2019 and that’s when I told my friend, his father, about the infant ASD traits and that that was why I Insisted that they listen to me and feed him what they did, and as a result, he’s not on the Autism spectrum. His dad's response was a very simple & appreciative, “Wow.”
I saw them all just yesterday (mom dad older sister, too) & he’s doing juuuuuust fine.
As research & knowledge has grown and spread, and more have been treated in medical studies and by their GP’s or even friends and family, there are probably others that have been brought back into balance as infants as it’s been ~7 years, but I still like to think of him as the first of many more to come.
