My father had a heart attack. He then went to the hospital, where his liver and kidneys aren't working anymore. I'm overflowing with joy. There was always this lingering doubt that when I actually found out about his death, or his impending death, that some basic instinct would cause grief. Now I know that it doesn't exist! I'm just thrilled; no grief at all. I'm listening to Sam's Town and wondering just how much money is in his bank account, because if either he or his parents have any say, my mother isn't getting a dime, so I'm next of kin. That's $600 into the PS3, plus a couple games is a solid $750, then I'll go on a book spree for another couple hundred, and the rest goes into a college fund. Or, alternatively, I could travel about Europe for a bit. So many decisions, I have to wonder how much he has, plus he has a car that I could sell, and a bunch of other s**t. I'm also thinking I go dance on his grave once I skip his funeral. This is f*****g sweet...

I suspect that a few WP members might disagree with your point of view however I am not one of them. My father died about thirty years ago and my first thought was 'I'm glad the old bastard has gone'. I wasn't interested in his money (there wasn't much anyway), I just wanted him out of my life.

The bastard did it to himself, and the tragic thing is he had to take shots at everyone elses life before his decided to end. But I do get some money out of it. He can consider this post-mortem child support.

Congratulations on your financial gain.If you are going to spend the money on an education, make sure you know what you want to get out of college, just the experience of a degree that might help you find a job that you would like to do in the future.I wasted my money on a degree in psychology and it wasnt until after I was far into the course before I realized I would hate talking to people and didnt agree with half of the theories I was being taught.I wish I had invested it in property instead.Just be careful and dont blow it because earning the money to survive with AS as an adult can be very demeaning and harsh.(lots of crap jobs).

As far as your feelings,or lack there of for your father, blood relations mean nothing..how someone treats you is much more likely to create a sense of "loss".If all you "loss" was a constant reminder of someone who was abusive or indifferent, then it makes sense that you wont miss him.I actually have some emotional connection for my adopted family, but I also wish they would leave me something to help me live on in my future.(I mostly do physical labor and know my body is getting old at 43 and I may have trouble keeping up with this type of job in the future). The way they spend money...I doubt that I will have any "inheritence".They earned the money and rightfully believe they deserve to "spoil themselves"...I just wish they would have some empathy for my grim future, but they never were to strong on the empathy front. They refuse to acknowledge that I have AS and continue to believe that my lack of success in my life is "laziness" that I could change if I chose to "apply" myself.Oh well, perhaps they well be reborn into a similiar life experience, their next time around...Karma can be a b***h.

Congrats Subataai! That's good news for you, my dad I wasn't too thrilled that he died as he had been paying money to me every month before he went. But, we knew it was coming, and he did too. Sorry to hear that your dad was such a prick. Did he work, you think he really has some big bucks for you? One of my friend's dad died, and his mom was already dead so he inherited a nice house and a phat sailboat and a couple hundred grand that he's just using for the interest. You never how life will turn out.
And don't forget, karma is a cheap plot device devised to make poor people do "their duty" of staying poor and to make rich people act more polite when out on the town.

Actually, I thought that was Christian guilt of being punished?Besides "my idea of Karma" is that a person isnt being punished by crap that is happening but is just learning a lesson, like how to be less of a prick in a future life by gaining empathy of others life experiences so that they will ultimately learn to have compassion for all living things and be reunited with the the "reality" of all things being spirituallyinterconnected/interdependent and equal,so that they will be able to escape the fake "divisions" created by this physical world.Seemed like a nicer reality then the whole heaven/hell,death is the end of learning opptions,so I chose to believe in it as a possibility(not necessarily a reality... )

My dad won't have much money, but I don't want much. I'm just looking for a bit to help out and have a bit of fun. He didn't work, but was on disability.

If he has minor children (not finished college) I would think he would have life insurance.

I seem to be in some kind of minority of thinking ALL the great religious systems of thought-shacklement are exactly that.

Well, you certainly are in the minority i the US,as 85% of the population believes in God.I was a bit shocked at those numbers as well.I dont find that religion shackels my thoughts,it makes me think and question. As for my belief in the "possability" of karma,I hardly would call it my religion. It is simply putting the the world in one possible frame of reference because I find doing so more interesting then believing in "nothing".It's not like I actually think it is "right",just more fun to believe in it as a possability.Does that make sense?

Certainly, Krex, your thoughts make some sense. I was surprised to hear a guy who used to be a professor at Yale Divinity tell me that Karma was a "trick" to escape the wrath of God, by putting it off indefinitely! How funny is that, and I think the guy really believes it  I think that's comforting to think that there's "something" out there for you, waiting for you to die to make itself known. But I don't think there is, if so however it will be a pleasant surprise for me :)
