I seem to find my days off work being a lot more at home and will go out if I have appointments, presents to get for people etc. I don't always force myself to go out for the sake of it like before. I hate sometimes going to a town where I work where places seem to be closing one after another and there's more than one vape shop or nail bar and stuff. I'm worried I am sounding old-fashioned because the high street changes.

I live in Medway in Kent in the UK and Chatham seems to be getting less interesting whereas other nearby places like Rochester, Maidstone etc are doing somewhat okay. Strood seems to be having more places built than in the past when there was really seemingly not much there and now Chatham feels like it's going down to what strood was. It's a shame really because Chatham and towns where I live have an interesting history. For example, Nelson's ship Victory was built in Chatham and is now docked in Plymouth.

I think that's normal as you get older. I don't like going into town as much as I did when I was younger.

Me too, I like spending my days off indoors not even having to get dressed. I used to go out all the time (as in going into town and getting buses with ease), but ever since the pandemic I haven't been going out so often unless I have to. Well it's not just the pandemic. When my husband had lost his job before he retired, we were struggling financially and I became so used to spending less and staying in more so that I don't have to put any clothes on, to save on the laundry. We still are quite poor but not as poor since he got his pension, but I just remained in the rut of being destitute and being mindful of our budget. It's why I live in absolute fear of becoming unemployed.

Me too. On my days off, I have to psyche myself up, just to pick up a few groceries. I feel super accomplished if I manage to put pants on

Yeah... But it's one more chance to meet someone.

I can understand that to be fair. There are certain areas that can be quite dangerous. I remember I was in the city once and I went to turn around a corner, however I noticed a guy with shifting eyes who was clearly hiding a weapon in his hoodie pocket. Most likely getting ready to rob me. So I turned around and dashed out of there. I didn't run, because I didn't want to alert the guy that I was on to him, I more so pretended that I had somewhere to be and walked swiftly.

In my town, there's a nail bar and the fumes are really bad. I feel unwell whenever I pass it, so I try my best to walk in the other direction.

I do grow tired of all the vape and betting shops as well. Thankfully, I believe the rules are changing and local councils should have more of a say on what businesses they want in their towns in the future.

Some of the older residents have expressed concerns about safety. There have been quite a few fights in the streets lately. Mostly fist fights and screaming matches. It can be quite awkward when you're trying to buy your food shopping and there are people outside seemingly having a messy divorce in the car park.

I think that teenagers get bored as well. Nowt for them to do. I think some of them pick fights with each other just for the sake of it.
