I took an IQ test as part of my assessment-- and they did every possible cognitive test there was, just name it. After the first session of like 4 sessions the psychologist who gave me the test said I was average to above average. Then this guy talks to me about his Mensa IQ score, bragging about it, he got 122 and I got 100 or 106 I think when I took a Mensa IQ test, under 101 is below average so I'm hoping it's 106 I got, then I'm like 5 points above average! He says the Mensa test is international, meaning they give you certain things based on your education, so it's entirely a test of aptitude, not knowledge, and that everyone can do it but it takes some people forever. And if your IQ is less than a certain point, you might as well slit your own throat, because you're a dog, not a person, anyway. He says I'm still "good for the world"-- wowee. I feel so mediocre. I never even got the test results yet. I wonder if I tried my best. f**k those bloody murderers like Karla Homolka who are in the top 2 percent. I won't deny it; I was jealous. f**k Karla Homolka. I should have killed her when I was in Montreal.

Well, if it's any consolation, if that guy with the 122 IQ said he was in Mensa, he is a liar.

IQ isn't entirely meaningless. It is a great measure of the skills and aptitudes it is meant to measure. But it not a measure of a person's worth, and it is a poor predictor of success.

Ana, you really do have many brilliant qualities that often elude the geniuses of this world.

That guy sounds like kind of a condescending jerk to me. Mensa or not, it sounds to me as though he has some issues.
Don't let it get to you, I scored about the same. At the time, my father made me feel like sh-t about it.
I guess I'm trying to say, don't let the tester's attitude make you feel bad.

I don't know, but I can relate. I always want to be above average in everything (good things, anyhow - I mean, who wants to be above average in aquiring speeding tickets?).

Everything is relative. If he was really excited, it may not have been his first time, and its been proven that basically anyone will score higher the second and third time.
Also, everything is relative. In the grand scheme of things, you can be a more productive and beneficial person than he could ever dream to be.
I really hope this doesn't bother you. I'm proud of my own IQ, but it doesn't explain why I suck at life so often.

Well put; couldn't have said it better myself. This guy sounds like a condescending jerk. Perhaps he was so eager to brag about himself because he feels incapable of measuring up to all of your wonderful qualities.

122 IQ is nothing to brag about. Plus him comparing his intelligence with a IQ score is lame.

Now about feeling average because of a IQ test. IMO those scores are crap. I am not saying this either because I scored low. Actually quite the opposite. Being a genius is a horrible mental illness to deal with anyways.

Yep, that's right. Mensa requires at IQ in the top 2% to join. That translates to a minimum of 130 or 132 (I forget which).

I wouldn't worry about it. In my opinion, IQ is entirely meaningless for people on the autism spectrum. My son has Aspergers. In some ways, he's a genius and in other ways he's completely clueless. If he took an IQ test, all it would give him is some intermediate number that wouldn't accurately reflect his level of ability at anything.
