There's a girl named Prithika who, for some reason, seems determined to make me look like I was wrong in a situation when I was being yelled at by a teacher. Long story, the thread with all the details about the incident in question is here.

Anyway, she was asserting that because I wasn't like other aspies, I must be faking it. ;-; She even called my AS a disease, which I'm sure you all agree that something like that is insulting.

Now I've got other students saying I'm full of crap and that my teacher was right with what he did. T_T I need help, 'cause this is tearing me apart.

That sucks. I can understand how people may think the teacher is right (I don't really agree, but everybody's entitled to their opinion), but that girl that's taunting you about your disorder is definitely out of line (in my opinion)
Just try to keep your head up and let it roll off your back, as you know the truth.

No, the girl is NT, and about as ignorant as they can get.

this is not fair, they should not be saying that s*&t about you. and why is she saying that you are not like other aspies? has she met any others apart from you? what gives her the right to act like she knows anything accurate about it anyhow?

The comment that teacher made to the guy at the computer shows up loud & clear what kind of a person he is. I once had a teacher like that too - he used to bully one of the boys in my 6th-form class (= 12th grade) mercilessly & one day he actually made him cry!

He should never have made the "sleeping" comment in the first place. And then when he asked if you wanted to go & see the counsellor & you said no, he should have, at that point, said something to you quietly like "Good girl. Take your time, and maybe you can try & have a go at the test when you feel a bit better, hmmm?" and then left you alone.

It is not like you were having a rage attack - if I was having one of my meltdowns, calling security would have been perfectly understandable! I'm wondering if your use of the word "meltdown" made him think that you might start throwing stuff around the classroom?

This just proves that some NT's do not have any empathy, or else he would have realised that you just wanted to cry quietly in your own little world & not draw any attention to yourself. It sounds like he was the one who caused all the disruption for the rest of the class by the way he behaved!

As for this girl, is it possible she has a crush on this teacher (or isn't he the kind of teacher anyone could have a crush on?) It is one possible explanation for her behaviour.

Alternatively, she may just be the type of person who hates people being different.

Thanks for the love, everyone ^_^

It turns out that even more NTs have a problem with me. They think I'm using my AS as an excuse, something I've dealt with one too many times. I figure it's just a matter of time until they learn. In the meanwhile, I'll just show them that I'm a good person, maybe teach them a thing or two. It's kinda like coming out as gay XD

But it still hurts to know that so many people hate me for who I happen to be. ;-; I'm just lucky I have some friends and family on my side, including my NT boyfriend, who's friends with the girl who originally made the offensive comments. AND one of my friends apologized for ignoring me and acknowledged that she didn't understand my AS before now.

Some of the people who think that I'm BSing everyone claim that they know people with AS, but I've gotta wonder, first, if they're making them up or not. Second, if they exist, have they met once, or did they even bother to get to know and befriend them? Third, do those people know about their negative treatment of a fellow aspie?

Shopaholic, you made a very good point! I've never gotten violent with my meltdowns; only crying.
