It's been almost 2 months and I'm still being told one day that I'm being fired and that I'm staying the next. It's so hard on my nerves! I've been looking for another job during this time, but I've only been offered interviews for jobs I know I'll despise, can't compare to this one. I'm still giving a lot to this job, one day feeling elated, another day feeling like an idiot. Such mean bosses to keep me in this situation when I've done nothing to deserve it. They've hired a new person to work with me and I asked if she'll be replacing me, they said no but I don't totally believe them because the same happened in my previous job, they said no and then when the new person learned the job, they fired me.

Bottom line: I so wish I had some control of the situation! Because the way things are, they do as they please and I have to go along.

Is there some way you can sabotage the new person that will affect her performance only if this person gets your job? What have you got to lose?

If you could slow the learning process down a bit, maybe it will give you more time.

You can be sure I'll try my best at that. :)

But revenge is not the kind of control I want. More like I'd like to be able to influence the situation a bit towards my own needs too., not only have to play along with the interests of the bosses just because I can't find another job that's suitable enough to move on and leave them hanging.

Added note: I hadn't seen your last sentence. You're right, I should do things to buy time...

ah. Well, that could make a difference. I've been told that 'who you know' is much more important there than what you can do. It could be a relative of the boss calling in a favor, or something like that.

Keep your options open. If there's any other company that has a comparable job to yours, might be worth some discrete inquiries. If it was in the US, I'd say be as helpful and useful as you could be, take on other job skills and training if possible, but I don't know how things work over there. The more you have to offer, the easier it is to get a good, or better job.

In my experience in the workforce, people usually refuse to show the new person anyting about the job, not openly but yeah, the new person ends up not knowing how to do the job.

check your contract.
people will always threaten to fire you in any organisation, you get thjreatened with replacement, firing, redundancy etc....it makes workers hungry to keep your job.
you need written warnings and a chance to improve before they can fire you, unless you live in a dodgy midddle east contry with no workers rights.

...or live in California.

I'm worried about being fired from my job before finding a better one.

In America, they can say "Goodbye" and mean "you're fired". Nothing in writing needed, unless they just care to be formal - but they don't have to be.

Those Brits are lucky with all their "wrongful dismissal" laws.
