I think most aspies have faced something like this from time to time on one scale or another.

Was in a bad marriage for 10 years and my reputation was dragged through the mud by my ex-wife along with her friends and family and even some of my friends got into the act. I have never met any person that lied as much as my ex-wife. Never. So, having to deal with this over the last 10 years has made me less trusting and less social than prior to this relationship. But now, I feel pretty darn good not being with a pillhead any longer. Best I have felt in a long time.

I work in IT and I am wondering if it might be best to move somewhere else and forgo trying to rebuild my reputation or straighten a few things out where I live first and see where that takes me? I'm not trying to run away from the problem rather weigh the effort required versus the end results.

Thanks

Personally it would depend for me on whether I liked the job or not. Lots of times these kind of stupid things blow over (I did not mean that to belittle your experiance, was just referring to people's short-sighted grudges that are on-mass) with the exception of one or two people who will hold onto thier opinions no matter what. If you just live as you and show anyone who is looking (and if they are trying to prove that you are a shmuck they will be... or they won't be bothering with any of this) that you are just... you and not this a..hole your ex makes you out to be, people will come around. I don't mind being a bit of a social outcast for a while, heck, I sometimes prefer it. However if I didn't care for the job and felt like a change, I'd just pick up and go. Just be warned, if you are leaving to get out of a situation... well, the grass isn't always greener. Just make sure that if you do leave, that you are running TO something, never AWAY from anything.

Whatever you plan on doing, I wish you luck.

I'm in a very similar situation. I chose to stay where I am, because it suits me. Whoever wants to believe those idiots who badmouth me and libel me, is an idiot too anyway.
