what's the one thing that paralyzes you, makes you unable to act or think, weakens your whole senses and reduces you to a pile of worthless lump?

for me, it's specific noises. things like keyboards clicking, people sneezing hard or coughing hard, people eating loudly, among other things. they're something that really hurt my ears and just paralyze me. I think there's something wrong with my brain and it picks up those noises as threats.

Any loud, shrill, or unexpected noise.

My mother, certain personal attacks (especially ones that assail the few strands that keep my ego from totally collapsing), and people telling me not to speak to them anymore.

falling in love. oooouuuh! gets me on my knees screaming in agony of a crushed heart. I can go nearly comatose in crying jags behind passion withdrawal. If I am employed it will eat into my performance until they let me go, or I just quit. If at home I quiver under the covers when not mooning around. Sometimes I go out and do rash things and intensely hope that I am invisible. . I can will myself invisible sometimes. . . at least I just don't vibrate on a frequency they can see me. either that or they pretend they just don't see me, because, let's face it, I am mostly a basket case, and who wants to deal with that.

other than that, loud noises, flickering fluorescent lights, ALLCAPS ANYTHING, and when I think about the hairy filaments of villi that coat the insides of my intestines (ewwwwwwww!)

There really isn't any noise that I could think of that would cause me to freeze up or hurt my ears apart from being very loud. But if there is a loud banging sound from two pieces of wood slapping together in a certain way, it will cause me to blink as a reflex. I'm not sure though if that is something related to autism or not.

Anything loud, but doesn't necessarily have to be sudden. Loud Bass, yelling (particularly at me), harsh shrieking noises (car alarms or something similar), etc.

 I almost spit the soup that was in my mouth all over my computer screen from laughing.

There's only a few noises that I can think of ATM that puts me into automatic freak out mode. The first is, metal utensils scraping plates, and pans. Another is the sound of grinding teeth. (Pretty much anything with a high pitched grinding abrasive sound) And, chewing noises.

Also, anyone coming up to me unexpectedly, and grabbing/touching me. For example, a few months ago I was at a teacher's conference for my autie son. His speech therapist was telling me about how his eye contact had improved. Suddenly, out of no where she grabs me by my face, to show me how she does eye contact excersises with him. Her face was literally less than an inch from my face. I just closed my eyes, and froze. We left about 2 minutes later, because I couldn't even speak, or hardly even think.

Too many words too quickly before I have time to process them. Someone talking in person, quickly, plus someone else talking on the radio or TV at the same time = too much information = :shaking:

The sound my father used to make just before he'd start beating me. But he's dead now, so I haven't heard it in a long time. No chance of ever hearing it aga

WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?! !

my father used to take his belt off before he sat down and beckoned me forward to "take my medicine". I always heard that clink chinkle of the sound of the brass belt buckle of him taking off the belt and I would immediately start fawning on him to keep from being beaten. Of course that same sound clinked-chinkeled brass belt buckle was what I heard before my lover or husband came to bed and I was back there fawning and showing what a good girl I could be.

I was so embarrassed when I finally processed this out.

People asking me unexpected questions or people saying something puzzling out of the blue.

Also people in general. They make me nervous. Especially if I'm in front of a group. I get stage fright, my mind goes blank, and I'm useless.
