As you all may or may not know, I experience the occasional flashes of homosexual ideation, often in form of homoerotic and bi-erotic dreams. Just woke up from one, in fact. I'm not particularly distressed by them because I know for a fact that I am attracted to women. God knows I love women. But then there's that stuff about the guys. It's puzzling. I just had a dream in which experienced attraction to both sexes.

And the gay boys on WP must be loving this, Slowmutant questioning his holy Christian heterosexuality. I admit it's cosmically funny. God sure knows how impress on me the lesson of Humility. If anything, it allows me to understand homosexuality better, and also how human sexuality itself is a ... spectrum.

You heaard it here first, all ye gays, athiests, and polyamorists.

God reveals Himself in mysterious ways.

In the meantime, how do I process these feelings and thoughts? I'm not really ashamed of them. They seem organic. Could this be a murmur of my latent Aspie bisexuality?

I thank you all for hearing my confession.

Well, honestly, to be 100% sure you feel that way about men and women, you have to actually look at yourself. If men and women turn you on, then theres nothing wrong.

The only listings in the bible truly condeming homosexuality are in Leviticus, and that was actually old testament law for the Jewish people, so they wouldn't experience the same health issues as the Gentiles, therefore making them, by default of not dying as often, the major race and religion.

But, when Jesus came back, he explicitly stated the old laws were washed away, and all sin was made equal in God's eyes. The only requirement was you believe in his Son as Saviour. So... any form of so called 'deviant' sexuality would not be any greater than anything else you ever did wrong.

I actually had a four hour discussion with a fellow church member about this, and he wasn't able to find anything in the bible that said God had an issue with homosexuality outside of Leviticus. Yea, Paul's letters aren't to friendly in that regard, but thats Paul talking.

And it's awesome that you are coming to terms with this. I wish you all the luck in finding the answer inside you!

Please don't start that mess again. Those with the biggest problem with it are the ones who having the biggest problem denying their own feelings for it. That's usually how it works.

Though, in honesty, dreaming about it means very little as well, you can't control your collective unconscience.

If you look at your bible cloesly, you will notice that in the published dialogues of Jesus, nothing was said about homosexuality at all. --Most of the condemnation comes from the apostle Paul, which was written quite a few years after Jesus died.

Take that as you will.

Two of the sayings I live by: "Whatever turns you on" and "If it feels good, do it".

I don't believe that ANYONE is 100% straight or gay. Most people are just closer to one end of the spectrum or the other. There's a little (or a lot) of bisexuality in all of us, and I see no reason why anyone should be ashamed of that.

Hey man, I've been studying up on the bible view of homosexuality for quite a while and agree wholeheartedly with all of the posts here so far. I'll add that I discovered context to what Paul was saying about it. The whole chapter was aimed at church leadership. He was saying that church leaders were "leaving the natural use of the woman and burning in lust one toward another." This was aimed at the church in Rome which had already started to preach an erroneous doctrine of complete celibacy for their leaders. We see the effects of this type of doctrine on the catholic church today with priests being involved in scandal after scandal with men and children, having "left" women to assume their leadership roles.

I wrote a LONG letter to an acquaintance about the subject recently, when she asked me why God would make people who are born gay and then condemn them to hell. I'd be glad to share it if you'd like.

I haven't done the deed. Between you and me, I'd have to be LOT gayer than I am now to engage in butt-sex.

A confession implies you've done something wrong, which you have not (I believe the Bible deplores gay sex "a man shall not lay wit a man as he would a women" or something like that).

But with all due respect to Christians here, I completely don't believe in Christianity or the Bible, so you, Slowmutant, have my utmost respect irregardless of your feelings and how wrong you may think they are.

I have absolutely no problem with homosexuality or bisexuality, but I don't agree that sexuality is a spectrum. I am not attracted to males in the least bit, and I never once doubted my heterosexuality. I'm not doubting that it isn't a spectrum in some people, but I do not see the evidence that human sexuality as a whole is a variable spectrum.

I was of course speaking in irony (I'm not a christian and I don't believe that gay sex is any worse for spiritual life than any other kind of sex).

In spiritual life, the thought of sinning can be just as bad as acting things out. The reactions to past actions come from the mind and actions enter through (are registered by) the mind. So enactment isn't required for them to be worthy of an opposite reaction.

Having said that, enactment will most likely enforce the desire for getting more of the same more strongly.
