[rant] Psychiatrist make up your damn mind
I think this belongs here.
A short history bit.
A year ago, I got what used to be called RSI in my shoulder which still hasn't healed. Four months ago, I headed to my physician because the physical complaints had still not past and actually became a little bit worse. I knew that the reason was not very likely to be physical, so I asked to be referred to psychiatric or psychological help. A second reason I asked was because I was depressed nearly all the time, to the point of not seeing the point of living any longer (that's different than contemplating suicicide).
After only one month of waiting, I finally got into the system, and after some intense questioning sessions, as well as making my parents show up, the diagnosed me with Aspergers about a month ago (even though only two weeks ago they gave their double-checked diagnosis).
I got in for a depression, so the psychiatrist suggested that I might feel "better" on taking anti-depressants. The psychologist of that team suggested some therapy session in a group with a NT buddy. I actually had to laugh at that, because both my parents seperately admitted that they (after reading) might have Asperger's as well. And my friends, those people I really call my friends, are not entirely normal either. So that was a no.
Anyways, I took some time to decide to go for te anti-depressants, as I actually have difficulty with change (even though I'm a chaot). So, it took me three days to decide, and now today, the psychologists calls and they decided to not give the medication, instead I first have to sit out the first 13 damn weeks of therapy.
My response to that is actually ..... why would I be not despressed *after* that therapy, when I was already depressed before I knew any of the Asperger's stuff. I mean I am still me, and while I do think that some minor changes are required, I will still be me after that.
Still it sucks.
Now, can you actually imagine that this is the worst way of ranting I can manage.
