No, it is not, as it appears from the title, a question question of whether I am loyal to anime or my dad.

More, it is a question of bedtimes and stuff. I am 20 years old (21 in April), for those who would question whether or not I am an adult.

I have a really bad problem with insomnia, and I usually want to stay up later than usual.

It is nearly a given that I want to stay up later on saturday nights because of Adult Swim showing anime that night. Bleach doesn't start until 2:00 AM our time, and I can't watch everything in a night, becuase by the time that Inuyasha is finished is is 7:00 AM.

However, my dad wants me to wake up by 10:00 AM on weekends, and to go to bed earlier accordingly, quote-on-quote.

The problem is, I love watching Bleach, Shin-Chan, and Code Geass. Especially with Code Geass, I have been watching it loyally since the show started (it comes on at 2:30 AM).

I have my misgivings about watching fan-subs on the internet. Aside from questions of legality, I also worry that watching videos constantly on my laptop will wear out the processor, video card, RAM, etc.

My family will be moving to Idaho this summer, and looking at TV schedules in the Boise area, it appears that Adult Swim comes on earlier in Boise.

So what are you guy's recommendations?

A VCR or Tivo would be my recommendation.

Stay up all night Saturday, go to bed a bit earlier on Sunday. Problem solved.

I would suggest the VCR route as well, considering I tape Code Geass and a few of those others as well. That way too you can watch a little bit during the week when there's a drought of anime on.

I recommend Sky Plus (I don't know if they have that in America, as far as I can tell it's like TiVo, which we don't have here but I've heard about it). That way you can record things if you really can't stay up. But I think it's unfair that you shouldn't be allowed exactly what sleeping patterns you like on weekends.

I highly recommend looking into a youtube style anime website. I watch bleach the day after it comes out in Japan every week on one of those... If you don't like subtitled anime I know some of those sites have the dubbed versions as well. This way you can watch your shows whenever you have free time instead of being bound to the constraints of cartoon network. You also save yourself some time since you don't have to deal with commercials or any of the shows that you might not really want to watch but watch while waiting for your next choice to start. I'm at work right now so I don't have access to my list of sites but you should be able to google them pretty easily.

As long as you are dependent upon your dad for your livelihood, you should follow his rules. Your situation seems less of an issue with insomnia, and more of one with different sleep hours. I suggest recording the shows you want to watch for viewing during daylight hours, and shifting your sleep time to coincide with your father's expectations.

The alternatives are:

    a) Re-negotiate his rules under a quid-pro-quo agreement.

    b) Move out, live independently, and set your own rules.
Good luck with whatever choice you make.
