I'm going to try and get an official diagnosis. Then food stamps, then SSI. Like I said, if the government is gonna screw me over, I'll just drain it. I'm already doing that with health insurance. At least until I can find another pizza delivery job, which is crap out here.
fire mintel, PM me and we'll talk about these things. pizza delivery is an honorable job in my opinion, both my dad and my uncle did it as adults. i love the smell of pizza in the car. you've got the courage to get ssi and health insurance, way to go! you take care of yourself fellow aspie

I agree about pizza delivery being an honorable job. Well, it doesn't pay all that well, but everyone's always happy to see the pizza delivery guy, right? I've done that job, and it's not easy.
FireMistrel, I'm only seeing this thread for the first time now. Don't leave, please. I notice there are a lot of people on WP who get upset and take it personally when people don't respond to their messages. I really think that in most cases, there's nothing personal about it at all. People just get busy doing other things, and don't get a chance to come back for a while.
Your experience with that job you just lost sounds SOOOO familiar. I was in the Air Force, and although I aced tech school, once I got to my real job, it was a whole different thing. I got shuffled from office to office, because it seemed like I was just a waste of space, and I was constantly being given little talks about how I wasn't "getting it". I got so sick of those little talks that the way I responded made me come across as a person with an "attitude problem." If you get in too much trouble for having an attitude problem, you get sent to correctional custody So, I pretty much lived in fear of that all the time, although I managed to avoid it. When I got out of the AF, I had a number of jobs that ended up pretty much like what's happening to you. I've had jobs where no one actually TELLS ME what I'm supposed to do. At one job, the entire team went off to another country, and I had no one to explain what I was supposed to me doing. At another job, the person who was supposed to tell me what to do was too busy...and he had such a thick accent, I could only understand a third of what he said. Every time I asked him to clarify something, I could tell that I was interrupting something important, and being a big nuisance. I've felt like that at every job I ever had. In fact, now, I'm a stay-at-home-mom, and I still feel like that sometimes. Go figure.
In other words, I completely understand and relate.
