I know people consider this private matters but I don't know what else to do!! I need help! I wanna be friends with Christine again, but I don't know how to get my message to her! If anyone doesn't know my situation, I'll tell you.

I was friends with a girl named Christine. My mom and Christine's dad got us to meet last year in January and we became friends. She was the best thing that ever happened to me. She's autistic, loves anime, has autistic friends and a boyfriend who makes his own flash series. She and I were best friends, even though she goes to a boarding school outside of the state. We were best friends...until December came around.

She told me she wanted a DVD of Shounen Onmyouji volume 2, and I tried looking for it, but stores like Borders and Best Buy didn't have it. Sun Coast's was too expensive. I even tried to look for Naruto, One Piece, and Fullmetal Alchemist related things, but I didn't know (and still don't) how many manga volumes she had of those...so I randomly picked out volume one of this manga called Godchild. I know she has an affinity for bishonen, so I ended up getting it. I asked my mom to give it to her dad to give to her. I had a good Christmas...but her boyfriend sent me a disturbing PM on Gaia, saying I've "crossed the line" and gave her the gift out of malicious intent.

I don't give gifts out of malicious intent! There's a HUGE misunderstanding! I tried to contact them, but they blocked me everywhere! AIM, Gaia, DeviantArt, EVERYWHERE!! I even tried to call Christine but her family never answers their phone much! I even sent her a letter I typed. She's at school right now, but I want her to know that I didn't give her that stupid manga just to force her to get into it! I'm not the type that's malicious or mean! What should I do? What should I do to explain this misunderstanding to her? I managed to explain this to her boyfriend though and he unblocked me from DeviantArt.

I ended up showing my parents the PM he sent me and they think it's their fault for being mean, but it's NOT!! ! It's MY durned fault!! I should never have given her that stupid manga!! I should've gotten her that Fullmetal Alchemist calendar I saw at the mall!! I should never have asked her if I could go to her boyfriend's party!!

So...can anyone help me? I want to clear up this whole misunderstanding to her once and for all! But I'm scared she may not believe me. I'm out of options! What should I do???

It really is not your fault if you had no intent of anything malicious. It sounds like you were being incredibly thoughtful, but not malicious...yee gads..

I dunnow...Some of us on the spectrum can be oddly provoked at times in somewhat unpredictable ways.

Is there something personal about this manga that could have set her off?

If there was, you obviously didn't know it....It is their fault for being non communicative and weird...not your fault at all...

You seem like a generous and kind-hearted friend.

I thought just NTs did weird stuff like that... :?

I'm not trying to sound insensitive, but it's just friggin anime, not a life changing thing. So it's not the one she wanted, she needs to get over it. Malicious intent...lol wow.

What I mean by malicious was that her boyfriend thought I bought her the manga as a way to forcefully get her into it.

This sounds all rather trivial and silly. Why do you want these people if they act this way?

Sometime it a good idea to read a bit the content, as it may not be appropriate to send. But other than that it can't be helped.

I read this over several times to see if I was missing something....like WHAT reason she had to get angry at you. Then I realised....she HAS no reason. But the thing that makes it more bizarre, is that instead of talking sense into her, the people around her have decided to become angry with you as well.

I've been known to be a bit hypersensitive in my day, and get pissed off over trivial stuff, but this is ridiculous.

But nobody in my neighborhood (and barely in my school) seems to know that. I mean, who would wanna be friends with a 15-year old forgetful, scatterbrained, non-girly, autistic otaku like me???

Not everyone around her was angry. I managed to get back on good terms with her boyfriend John (he got over the incident), and I'm good friends with their friend Andrew (even though I've never met both John or Andrew in person. Just on the internet and their flash movies).

And...I think I found a good way to make it up to her for my mistake. Let's just say it involves her favorite anime, Fullmetal Alchemist.

...I think I did it. I think I finally did it. I think I was finally able to get a message out to her. I think I finally achieved success in getting on good terms and putting the conflict aside. She understands...she understands...it was never her fault...she never was mad...*cries tears of joy*

OK - I can tell you what my grand mother told, when I was in such a situation some decades ago; "It hurts now, but you will forged and other mothers have niece sons too."

She was right.

So; Don't worry, look for someone else.

I agree! It's not your fault! I'll say it again: IT'S NOT YOUR FAULT.

You were considerate, you looked for something she wanted, then couldn't find it so you got her something else.

I'm glad she wasn't mad at you.

As for the people around her who treated you like that, if someone behaved like that to me I'd be tempted to punch them in the face.
