I have to keep seeing Theripists for the rest of my life so I can Goverment money for my disability, it's complicated, I don't fully understand it myself.

My old Theripist went on retirement so I got this new Theripist who totally doesn't have a sense of humor. I have a dark, sick and twisted, satirical sense of humor probably because I watch too much violent controversal cartoons. LOL But yeah, she told me how my sense of humor is just plan wrong and I need to think positive and crap. I told her about the insident where I made this cartoon of a newscaster saying untruthful things about me and someone thought that it was a suicide threat and was consern about me. I told my parents, what if I run out of things to talk about and they said "You'll always have something to talk about". Which I kind of took a bit hard like, You have Asperger's, you'll always be emotionally unstable so you have to go to a theripist.........well I'm just going so I can prove to the state that.......................(sigh) I have a mental disability (Asperger's) so I can get Goverment Money.

If I had a job, I wouldn't have to worry about Goverment money but I don't know, I guess it's importaint for me to get the money sense I don't have a job and it's like a right for me to get money because I have Asperger's. I can care less about Theiripists and Goverment Money but like I said, I don't have a job, so I guess it's backup so I can never be homeless.

I already feel lonely that I'm the only one on the planet who has a cartoon violent sense of humor, don't need to make my loneliness having a Theripist telling me that It's wrong to laugh at a cartoon character getting shot or hanging it's self. IT"S NOT REAL, IN FACT IT'S ART!
GOOOOOOOOOOOOD!! !! !! !!

Well I am not sure of the point of forcing you to go and see the person against your will. The problem is that no cure exists for AS, all "they" can do is to mitigate some of the bad effects.

But you have to watch out that you do not press certain buttons, as soon as you say anything about or make some comments on the following topics

Killing yourself
Killing someone else
An act of violence

You will start to head towards very hot water, the problem is that having AS makes you different. I am careful not to say diseased, but sadly the mental health industry equate AS with a diseased state. I am not an Aspie supremacist I view aspies and auties as being of equal worth to NTs, but some of the less enlightened parts of the mental health industry view us as jigsaws or problems which needs to be pinned out on a board, analysed and then fixed and turned into NTs.

Not all of the medical industry are that bad, if I could choose my own medical team to consider matters related to my AS then I would go for Tony Attwood, Simon Baron Cohen and Oliver Sacks. But knowing my luck I might get some quack like as bad as Wilhelm Reich. I guess that having Wilhelm Reich as your doctor could be quite fun, but I think the modern quacks that some of us here have encountered are much less fun and much more damaging.

The thing is as a little harmless aspie you are not viewed as a threat, but the mention of violence against yourself or others suddenly changes the way they view you. When you make jokes about acts of violence the therapist will start to worry that you might not know the difference between fantasy and reality, and that you might start attacking random passers by.

I think the risk of being attacked by a mentally ill person is over estimated, but most of society live in terror of the mad murderer who has just escaped from the mental hospital or is a “care in the community case”.

If I went to work on Monday and outed myself to my co-workers as an aspie, I think that they might jump out of their skin. If I made a joke about beating lazy students with a cricket bat then they would think it is in bad taste. But if I outed my self as an aspie and also made jokes about using the cricket bat to motivate the students, I think that a real danger would exist that they would think I was about to go on a cricket bat rampage.

It is the combination of a joke about violence and a mental difference which will ring the alarm bells.

So if I was you I would not make any remarks about the violence which you think is funny. Unless you start to get a sudden urge to attack passers by then I would keep you mouth shut about violence, if you do get such urges then talk to someone before you get the chance to act on such urges.

BTW My tastes in hummer have changed over the years. The things which I find amusing now days are not things which NTs would get very nervous about. Poems such as those in Revolting Rhymes are viewed as funny harmless stuff, but when you look in detail at some of these poems you might find some poetry such as Struwwelpeter very menacing. Flying Robert is a bad bad tale about a kid who has a horrid but funny accident.

Diagnosed under the DSM5 rules with autism spectrum disorder, under DSM4 psychologist said would have been AS (299.80) but I suspect that I am somewhere between 299.80 and 299.00 (Autism) under DSM4.

Biofeedback? Is that a website? Cool.

I really want to switch theripists but pretty much I would have to search high and low for one who can accept my ensurance and be young so I would have them through out my life and such.

It's spelled therapist. As in the-rapist.

Hi Eric, I haven't pursued government money for my Asperger's because I have a job. But I was going to a therapist who understood me well. But, he wasn't that humorous---I don't think many are. Even though my therapist has expertise in Asperger's, he also sees couples whose marriages/relationships are in trouble.

Now, for your comic sense of humor. You know what is real and what is not. You know that in real life that kind of violence is wrong. But are graphic comics any different than what we see on television? One of my interests growing up (in the 1970s) was horror comics. They were extremely violent and gory. They still make me cringe. I would get ones like Horror Tales, Terror Tales, Tales from the Tomb, etc. I think this may be similar to what you are talking about.

It's odd how things are perceived in life. If someone doodles violent images in their notebook they might be considered "disturbed" or "deranged." But if an author creates disturbing scenes in a book it is called "art" and "literature."

Eric, I am a very professional and level headed guy. But I can relate to you here. You are not alone. I mean, why else would there have been such a market for graphic horror comics? I read them. I have tried to draw them. And I am not warped. It's simply creativity. Gee---look at the horror movies. Look at Stephen King's stuff---whoa! It is art!

I would love to communicate with you about this if you want---just PM me.

I've seen two for various reasons and they were both very good. Don't tar them all with the same brush - there are some excellent ones out there.

Become a therapist and then you can bill them for seeing yourself.

I agree here, I have a lot of respect for my therapist. He has shown me utmost respect and listened to anything I had to say. His office has always been comfortable and relaxing. And anytime I have emailed him he has returned with a reply quickly.

If your current therapist isn't helping surely you can look for a better one.

I fully relate, i dont hate my therapist ( lol, the-rapist), but sometimes it feels like im going there just to prove to someone else mainly my parents, that i actually would like to get rid of my Severe Depression and School Phobia. I dont know i really dont think they'll ever understand, i beleive its one of those metally engraved as you age thing "authority figures are always better", makes no sense? :? Maybe its just my age ( 15 ), but i really dont care what type of humor it is, it's all just humor!

However i think its just sad that, just because i have "AS", if i get even a little angry or say something wrong, i'm instantly labeled a "Weapon of Mass Destruction"! I'll put up with it though, if means having any bit of understanding, i'll be the little class pet :x

I'm going to give this therapist one more change, it'll be hard to find another one anyways due to incurance purposes.

I'm scared about it. It's like all PRESSURE! My parents want to know every little thing that I say to this person and there isn't really anything that I need to talk about.

How many of you Aspies need to see a therapist?

Do you enjoy your Therapists or do you not like them?

I'm in America.

I'm really afraid to go but I have too, my parents want me too. My interests are humor and if someone can't relate to my dark satirical humor, I feel unconfortable. Like most of you, if someone doesn't relate to your interests or personality, don't you feel unconformable too?

Anyone hate their Theorpists? I need someone to relate too.
