an artist looking for advice
how do i find that will to draw again.
i'm going on a bit of soul searching to find what it was that made me draw in the first place.
where is a good place to start and are there tips and tricks to this.
i remember i had this character back when i was little her name is my username i loved to draw her should i start there?
i've never really soul searched before.
i also have this big picture i wonder if finishing it would help, though throwing it across the room wasn't a good start.

i have the same problem, and i fear falling out of practice. i have lots of potential, ive always been good with details and observation, and i should hone my skills WAY more than i do now.
one hint:
one time my computer stopped working, entirely, for a week.
i drew non stop
i drew people, and after only 2-3 days i was getting pretty damn good at it

Hi Jetfox,
I know nothing about "soulsearching" but as an multiartist I do know what it is like to have artskills that needs to be digged up to the surface
Out of that I can share my ideas to you
First of all, art comes from your heart AND spontaniously. If you have trouble with this, then there is something that block you
I know whats blocking me from bringing on my videos on a regular basis. Because I have extremely high demand on myself, to make it better than the very best I can show
Dont fall in that trap the first you do!! !
So, to get yourself to start, then do it slowly and in your own speed, without demands from either you or somebody else
Also you have to find the right time and place and the right mood to grab your pen
Try to think of that, where and when could be the best time? At the evening, when you are alone? Or a time of the day when you are most active and alert?
Will you find it relaxing? Developing? Why do you want to draw, to get better skills?
Maybe attend an simple artcourse that require you to give time to it regular and where you get specific assignments what to do...
Or if it prevents you to set a specific time for it, then just do it and dont think! Try some simple drawings with an easy theme and work yourself up
Throwing your big picture across the room indicates frustration and totally lack of motivation to make it finished. If it was me then I would drop it and start something completely new as its a fresh start
