a much needed and very welcome bout of rain has now subsided, making the ground slick and leaving slugs, snails and various other invertebrates sliming around, probably enjoying the respite from the scorching drought as much as their simple brains may allow.

52F here currently and just past midnight, overcast and it looks like the rain is gonna come back in a few hours. it may subside again in the afternoon.
