Why is it that people here like to engage in non-stop political fights, but don't engage in threads about allistics who are actively exploiting autistics and then silencing them when they try to speak out? Am I the only one that's pissed off about this film?

Like it or not these mainstream celebrities and the entertainment industry have a lot of away with average people. They are telling them our voices are of no consequence. They are dictating how autism should be portrayed, and people are buying it. How often have we been confronted with ASD stereotypes and had to either attempt to dispel them or felt powerless to argue?

Advocating is exhausting. Even moreso when you stand alone. This place is dead.

First of all, thank you for learning me a new word : allistic. Alto now I wonder about the origin of this neologism.

For why people might not respond to that tread. Talking for myself. When I look at the tread title, the only thing I see is that it is a movie with an autistic lead and that it is directed by someone I never heard of. In other words it tells me nothing about what kind of movie it is, which in turn decreases the change for me even clicking on the tread and reading it.

^ Thank you. Yes I understand that. Because of the title I clicked it thinking it would be a movie I could watch. Disappointing all around. If I weren't so bored all the time, I probably wouldn't click on half the threads that I do.
