Showers are a bit of both for me. It relaxes me and of course cleans.

I've only made the effort a few times to take a full fledged bath. It's so relaxing to just dunk myself in warm water for half an hour. :)

I never take a bath. I always shower. It's mostly for hygiene, but it's pretty comforting too.

Practicality or relaxation ? Practicality.
Haven't bathtub, and can't stand bath-taking (because growing up we only had tub-no shower). Showering (also bathing & swimming) is thing I have to force myself to do, since the transition (getting in & out) is really uncomfortable/aversive for me. It feels great while in the water, but getting wet & drying off are really unpleasant physical sensations.
I don't mentallly relax there any more than I do otherwise, my mind is quite busy especially since I can't read or write while showering. Spend almost 30 mins. in shower, not because I'm so thrilled to be in there-but because my hair tangles very badly & it takes that much time to adequately clean my body, wash & condition my hair.

I hate being cold and wet. When I'm done cleaning myself in the shower, I adjust the water to be as hot as it can go, then I stand spread-out under it for as long as I can bare. I then get out and quickly dry myself off faster than it takes for my body to cool off. I use this method at sinks when washing my hands too.

I like to be as fast as possible when taking a shower, I do not take baths as I don't like getting all shriveled. If I get a really bad headache then I'll stand under the hot shower for long periods of time until it evens out a but but that is it.

I don't like showers. I find them overwhelming - all the noise and the feeling on the skin - and need to have the shower turned down really soft. Especially in the morning when my anxiety is so HIGH.

I like to ahve showers and baths at the same time. Otherwise they freak me out. I won't shower standing up.

I only take baths when I am on travel for work and in a nice hotel with a big tub. I love to shower for the relaxation, as I have chronic back issues. But I still only spend 5-10 minutes showering. I have to shave in the shower as I have super sensitive skin and the humidity from the shower helps ease the pain and irritation. When I shower, I prefer to do it in the day, when there just a little bit of light coming through the blinds. I also like to have all other noises muted except the running water, which I find soothing. When I am at my in-laws, my mother-in-law comes in and turns on the fan so the mirror doesn't fog up. Irritates the hell out of me, as I want a nice quiet, relaxing environment. When I take a bath, I stay until the water is cold.

I have a bath most days - usually enjoyable, but of course i dont want to go aroubnd stinking so it has its practicalities.
I take a gin+tonic in there with me or a glass of wine - stick some music on and read a book.

I dont have a w*k in the bath, but sometimes i knock one out beforehand.

thanks for asking :p
