could you describe your house and neighborhood?
i live alone, (thank God) in the first floor of a four stories building where neighbors leave garbage outside, the ones above me drag and slam heavy furniture on the floor after midnight and deny it's them when i confront them. others scream like lunatics till midnight and a bit after and refuse to stop. cars drive by with blasting music and open windows. there were neighbors, left years ago, whose teen son's friend told me he's kicked my cat several times, which i know isnt truth because my cat never went anywhere near humans, beside me.
all right, that covers the neighbors. the weather, california like. snow once every twenty years and then melts almost right away. we have huge, winged cockroaches all summer long and they get inside houses and i'm terrified of them.
we have feral cats everywhere, black, white, brown, gray, yellow and orange, and multicolored. i fed some, but the neighbors gave me hell. people here are violent and terrible drivers. by the way, it's a middle class neighborhoods and not much different than other neighborhoods.
i'm walking distance from three supermarkets, five grocery store and the heart of town, which is very small but crowded with stores, restaurants and job agencies.
there are palms everywhere and an occasional cactus. ninety nine percent buildings and very few homes. in the summer, the grass in yards turns yellow and the heat is unbearable. people wear sockless sandles and short pants or mini skirts and shirts tied at the ends to show their stomachs, a few guys go shirtless.
we have electric poles and terrible traffic jams, and you wait forever in the supermarket, the grocery store, the bank, post office, everywhere, and there's always someone trying to jump the line. every minute outside you run into a feral cat and dogs run around mostly without their owners and do their business on the sidewalk. violent dogs are sometimes allowed to run free and the authorities arent very good at doing something about it, or about the noise, or anything else, for that matter.
so, um, how's your neighborhood?

Sounds like Salford, which is where I live.

I live in Chatham in Kent atm.. Can places still be described as a ghetto? Lol it's a real hole of a town but we have "Dickens' world" :/

I live about two blocks from the school and I can hear kids playing outside when I am outside and I can hear the school bell from inside my apartment. The neighbor below me occasionally plays his bass music too loud and if I am lucky, I will hear shouting downstairs and then the music is gone. The neighbor who lives right next to me plays his TV and I can hear it in the bathroom and sometimes he plays his music loud too but it's not as annoying as it is below me since there isn't much bass.

My neighborhood is pretty quiet and it has apartments and old homes that are over 100 years old and very few of them were built in the 1800's. The oldest home here was built in 1883 and the next oldest I have seen is 1895. We have homes that were built in the 1930's and 1940's too and 1920's and 1910's and 1900's. Next door to my apartment complex lives a family with three kids and on nice sunny days in the spring and summer, the kids go out and play in their yard and shriek and talk loud. I do not see many kids playing outside here so it's always nice when I do see a few on their bikes or the kids next door playing outside.

Our neighborhood is right next to the main road that is busy and there is another main road that passes through but it's not as busy. I also live right close to three bus lines and they are going to put in the light rail. They have already torn down two buildings already and have dug a huge hole along the busy road.


We also have a a couple fast food places near us and a few restaurants, a baby resale store and a small cafe, we have a bookstore nearby which is crappy, we have a pharmacy and a few bars nearby that is a great walking distance. I can even walk to Goodwill from here and that is a little far but my legs can take it. Plus I live about two miles from my aunt and uncle and I have walked there myself to their own neighborhood and community. Plus we have a theater here where they play live music and it was once a movie theater and next door is a piano place.

I have three parks near me, the school playground and it's also a park, another park and another park. They all have playgrounds. The city park in my neighborhood has a wading pool but one of them doesn't work due to a broken pipe and the city won't pay to fix it to the pool is always off all year around.

But sadly all the homes here are beyond our price range so we can't even stay here if we move.

Well it's not terrible, but it ain't great

A very noisy neighbourhood where everyone besides my mom, sister and me seems to not hear all that noise :o And there are 3 schools nearby which sometimes makes it difficult for me on my walks because i'm a bit scared of high school students.

It's right in the middle of my city. There are constantly noisy kids hanging around and some of those kids break into our apartments from time to time. There are also buses and cars going by during the day time. There are also mothers walking down the side walks with their small children. Some are okay but some of them are abusive as well. My clubhouse is just down the road from where I am. I can go there to avoid all the crap that goes on in my neighbourhood in the summer.

Council houses, messy gardens (My house [or should I say the council's house]is probably one of the few houses that has a tidy garden, and it's not looking tidy right now...), we don't talk to the neighbors much, and apparently there's a high crime rate. So I must live in one of the nicer parts of my area.(Cause I'm not talking about the whle city).

A very pretty place.

I live in a suburb on the outskirts of Glasgow. It's a newish housing development (12 years old) of about 1500 houses. My house is at the top of a cul-de-sac. It's detached, but with smallish rooms, just as most new houses are in the UK. Our garden is full of plants, and has a lawn with some outdoor play equipment for our daughter. The cul-de-sacs here don't have pavements (sidewalks) and the roads are monoblocked. We don't have fences or walls beyond the fronts of our properties. It's not very easy trying to explain to a young child about road safety and other people's property. It's very quiet here, as we don't get passersby. We're quite near a main road, with buses to the city or further into the sticks. Other than the houses, all that we have in the immediate area is a primary school, a small supermarket, a hairdressers/beautician, a chemist, a posh chippy/ ice cream parlour/ restaurant and a train station. The town centre is walking distance away (about 45 mins), but there's not much there that I go to, just a big supermarket and a clothing shop. Glasgow is just a short train journey away.

My neighborhood is one of extremes. We live in a single family home, no residents above or below, but we are surrounded by track homes. On one hand, it's quite small & intimate as we know nearly all our neighbors by name. Most are friendly as well. But we live next door to the cat lady who draws in the feral cats & feeds them. I think currently there are close to 20 stray cats. They use our yard as their litterbox (often just feet away from our front door, & the smell is atrocious) & tease our dog. Trash blows in from the main street, just a few houses away, & we have a couple of neighbors who also litter, which I find annoying. I walk my dog & pick up after him, so why is it so hard for someone to not drop discarded items either on the sidewalk or in the street? We have a grocery store within walking distance as well as restaurants. We also have the drone of freeway traffic day & night, as well as a neighbor who practices drums & the guitar for hours on end. I can hear it over my own music or sounds in my house & we have newer double pane windows...guess they aren't thick enough to block the noise. Also several neighbors allow their dogs to bark, & usually don't stop them. Not the quietest place to live, especially for anyone who is noise sensitive.

My neighborhood is pretty quiet. Most of the people who live here are middle-aged to elderly. There is a park that's literally right outside my back door. I go there to run with my music on whenever I feel like getting lost in a daydream.

But when the weather is nice, the park becomes crowded. While I don't mind a few people here and there, I become very intimidated by too many people. A lot of parties are thrown at the park. One time there was a ceremony to honor someone who had died and another time there was a wedding reception.

Most of the time, the park is filled with parents and their children, but occasionally groups of teenagers will hang around. They are the worst, because they will often make fun of me behind my back because of my running. One group of teenage girls stalked me from across the park all the way to my house. I'm unsure of what they wanted with me but it probably wasn't good. When my mom found out she went out there and yelled at them. They never came back to the park.

I live in a very good neighborhood, it seems.

It's extremely quiet most of the time, even though most of the houses have large families with young kids in them. I think one of my teachers lives right down the road. All the houses are ginormous and well kept. And it's kind of like a tiny suburb in the middle of country land. Our house is slightly less kept, because it's only been lived in since last November. It's also bright yellow, with a good sized porch. The garage is huge, for a two car. The inside was recently painted, so all the pictures are taken down. Only 7 rooms are completely finished. Across the street from my back yard is still undeveloped, and I noticed that kids sometimes bring tents and tarps back there and build forts. Barely any traffic at all. All the schools are about a 10-15 minute walk away from the neighborhood.

I like it here.

Thornaby, Mitchell Ave, uk

Semi Detached, owned house, not my house though. Thornaby community school is my old school. It's not called that like anymore "Academy schools called now" Looks more like a young offenders school now. Big green patch & you can't miss it search there. Thornaby has some nice history on wiki. Also they is a spitfire on the roundabout with 4 arrows "Thornaby, Trenchard Ave, uk". Pretty quiet here, except for the schools & when the police & fire engines that are based near me start coming out, near "Thornaby, Millbank lane, uk". Worse part is I feel like strangling the police helicopter with its hovering so low outside my window a lot because of Mitchell Ave, can't they stick a silencer on it. Other than that it's normally quiet. Our area is pretty good.
