Do any of you people like hearing someone's accent, if they have one? For example, I love hearing British accents, along with ones from New York and New Jersey.

Had an ex from South Africa and he had a very nice one. Same for another from Paris, her voice was very lovely.

I've always been fascinated by different people's accents. I think my family might have something to do with this - I have a grandmother from the south coast, Scottish grandfather, Dad from the industrial midlands, step-Dad from inner-city London - and then when I left home, I moved from the east midlands to Yorkshire. I don't sound like a "local" anywhere that I go any more, as my own accent and idioms are such a mish-mash of elements from all of those.

I also have a habit of picking up bits of other people's accents once I've been talking to them for a while. It's even got me into trouble when I've been accused of mocking the way people speak, even though it is completely innocent, and I don't even notice myself doing it until someone points it out.

The "Celtic" accents are my favourites, Welsh particularly, though I couldn't say why exactly.

Some of my favorites are Canadian, northern accents like from Minnesota, Maine, Massachusetts, and New York. I also like a variety of accents from Great Britain. Canadian accents put a smile on my face, I adore them. I have not met very many angry Canadians, most being very kind, considerate, and gentle people.

I enjoy listening to accents and I'm ace at copying them. I find the best ones are half and half accents, in uncommon combinations, like a Nigerian-born Belfaster. One to recently stump me for a while was a guy that had moved from just over the Scottish border to Newcaslte. I, like another poster on this thread, am fond of the classic southern states US accent (Hollywood-d up a little like Dolores from Westword). If anyone asks, though, I usually South African is my favourite. Eets the woi they swup ul of the viwuls rand, ind avrthing is so clpt.
