I was talking with my friend. He referenced a conversation we had had some time ago in which he made a joking comment about us moving to Germany together (we never had this conversation in real life--just in the dream), and said how he had really meant it, how he has always wanted us to be together and move to Germany. I expressed my surprise, having had no idea that he felt this way and that he really wanted to do what we had laughed about. I agreed to go to Germany with him.

Elated, we went to his (very big) house, where he showed me that he had an identical twin/clone who, for some unexplained (but entirely reasonable in the dream) reason, could never go outside because he wouldn't be accepted. So my friend kept him locked in a room in the middle of the house where he was safely hidden away. The twin was friendly and sweet but perhaps not well socialized. I didn't actually meet or see the twin because we didn't go in the room. He couldn't see anything outside of his big, empty, windowless room, but wanted to very badly, so he took an electric drill and was drilling holes in random places in the walls so that he could peek out. He did so with childish delight, going here and there throughout the room at random.

Delighted talking about the twin and our move to Germany, my friend and I pressed our faces to the door so that we could listen to him as we talked. My friend told me that he wanted to move his twin to Germany because he would be accepted and able to go outside there. He seemed joyful and full of life and energy at the thought of all of us going and being happy together.

The twin continued drilling holes around the walls to look out through. Unaware of our faces pressed to the door, he came and started to drill. My friend screamed "Noooo!" as his twin drilled straight through my head and killed me.

After this, my friend succumbed to depression, closing his company, abandoning his house, and disappearing.

i dreamt i stepped outside my childhood home for a moment, only to encounter my old 1974 volvo running unattended, the engine revved up for some reason. there was a foot of snow outside, and the volvo's defroster was on and it had defrosted the windows well enough for me to get it and drive it away, which i did. pretty soon i got to a point where all the snow was gone and the sky was gray and the roads were dry. i started driving down an impossibly steep hill [at least a 45 degree decline, like lombard street sans the hairpin curves], and my speed picked up to dangerous levels before i got to the bottom of the hill. then i drove into the city and ran into some kind of pavilion with a large squat 3-story stone building on one side, and a rocky plaza on the right with various rock sculptures on the other, with people sitting around and standing up talking to one another. i then found my volvo was trapped on a little plateau of rock and i couldn't drive anymore without falling over the side, so i got out and asked a group of talking men what to do, and they told me to back my volvo up to the elevator behind me, which when i turned around i saw it materialize with its doors open and waiting for me to drive in, so that is what i did. as soon as i drove in, my volvo disappeared and i was in something that looked like a city bus, with grabrails and bench seats and sliding windows all around looking out at a cityscape.

i sat down in the middle left bench next to some generic person wearing a charcoal gray tracksuit, then for some reason my eye was caught by a larger bench in front, so i could stretch my legs, so that is where i went. as soon as i sat down again, the bus turned into a large waiting room with bay windows at the front. then a large thought bubble materialized over me over my right shoulder, and in it was a distinguished-looking psychiatrist fella who told me that i was here because i had been invited to a special aspie therapeutic group upstairs on the third floor, that would make me a much better aspie. so i said "cool!" and then he told me i had to sit and wait until my name was called and i got a token, so i said "ok." so i sat and waited but everybody else just started getting up and walking upstairs to the third floor while i continued sitting like a stupidly obedient fool on a stool, :? until just about everybody had left me behind, and i turned around and some straggling group of people not associated with the aspie class said, "what's the matter with you? can't you see everybody else has gone and left you behind? get up there NOW!" so sheepishly i climbed the stairs to the upper room and found what looked like a big goodwill store thoroughly picked over, with just the unwanted detritus left-over, that some staff members were combing over. i was peeved that the shrink in the thought bubble had lied to me, for there was no better aspie class, just this large goodwill store. i ran into some social workers which i had been a client of decades back, and they said "hi" to me then continued combing through the leftover stuff, which was boxes of old speaker cones and other electronic parts. i kept looking around for the better aspie class. then i awoke. sheesh :x

I dreamed I was confronted by a man with a gun, a short black handgun, like a glock, maybe. Then he fired the gun, and then I saw myself from the 3rd person, and it fired a thorn instead of a bullet, and the thorn embedded itself in my neck, then fell out, but there was no real ill effect. I then said something to the gunman, but I forget what.

Assassin
To dream that you have been assassinated, represents a hopeless situation that needs your immediate attention and action. To dream that you are a witness to an assassin, indicates that you need to pay more attention to some small detail. Do not overlook the seemingly insignificant things in life.
Shooting
To dream that someone is shooting you with a gun, suggests that you are experiencing some confrontation in your waking life. You may be feeling victimized in some situation.
Gun
To see a gun in your dream, symbolizes aggression, anger, and potential danger. You may be dealing with issues of passiveness/aggressiveness and authority/dependence. Alternatively, a gun represents the penis and male sexual drive. Thus, the gun may mean power or impotence, depending on whether the gun went off or misfired.
Black
Black symbolizes the unknown, the unconscious, danger, mystery, darkness, death, mourning, rejection, hate or malice. The color invites you to delve deeper in your unconscious in order to gain a better understanding of yourself. It also signifies a lack of love and lack of support. The assassin with a black pistol [powerful person in your life] shooting thorns in your neck that fall out, is somebody close to you in waking life who has been needling you- your father? The dreamfact that the thorn left no lasting harm would indicate you have become innurred to such in waking life, but your dreams will still play these things back to you at night.
Neck
To see your neck in your dream, signifies the relationship between the mind/mental and the body/physical. It represents willpower, self-restriction and your need to control your feelings and keep them in check. Consider the familiar phrase, "don't stick your neck out" which serves as a warning against a situation.
To dream that your neck is injured or sore, indicates a separation between your heart and mind. There is a literal disconnect between how you feel and what you think. You are feeling conflicted. Alternatively, the dream represents something or someone, who is literally a pain in the neck. Who in your waking life, is being a pain in your neck?
Thorns
To see thorns in your dream, suggest that there is a prickly situation that you need to overcome. Thorns also symbolize past trauma or some physical suffering. You may be putting up your defenses. Also consider if someone is being a pain or a "thorn by your side." Who in your waking life, is being a "thorn in your side"?

To dream about going to a foreign land, represents change in your life. Consider how you feel about the surrounding. If you are excited or happy to go to this foreign place, then it suggests that you are ready for change.
House
To see a house in your dream, represents your own soul and self. Specific rooms in the house indicate a specific aspect of your psyche.
To dream that a room in a house you are inside is being damaged by drilling in the walls, suggests that you are feeling violated. It may refer to a particular relationship or current situation in your life. Alternatively, it indicates that some unconscious material is attempting to make itself known. There are some aspects of yourself that you have denied. To dream that a house has been abandoned, indicates that you are not feeling grounded. You feel uprooted by a particular circumstance or relationship in your life.
Room
To dream that you are in a room, represents a particular aspect of yourself or a specific relationship. Dreams about various rooms often relate to hidden areas of the conscious mind and different aspects of your personality. If you see a confined room, then it denotes that you feel trapped or repressed in a situation.
To dream that you find or discover a friend's twin locked in a room, may indicate repressed memories, fears, or rejected emotions. Alternatively, such rooms are symbolic of neglected skills or rejected potential. The dream could mean that you are trying to bring-out a major aspect of yourself and are searching for any outside help or illumination you can find.
Friend
To see friends in your dream, signify aspects of your personality that you have rejected, but are ready to incorporate and acknowledge. The relationships you have with those around you are important in learning about yourself.
Clone
To dream about a clone, suggests that you are either in harmony with or in conflict between ideas and decisions. Alternatively, the dream indicates that you are overburdened. You are spread to thin and feel that you need to clone yourself in order to get what you need to get done.
To see twins in your dream, signify ambivalence, dualities or opposites. It also represents security in business, faithfulness, and contentment with life. It may also mean that you are either in harmony with or in conflict between ideas and decisions. To see twins fighting in your dream, represent a conflict between the opposites of your psyche. One twin signifies emergence of unconscious material and suppressed feelings, while the other twin represents the conscious mind. There is some situation that you are not confronting. The "friendly" twin indicates you feel it is possibly a good [unlikely to be offensive] time to integrate a hidden aspect of yourself into your public persona.
To see a friend's twin brother with a drill in your dream, indicates that you are headed toward a new direction in life. You are opening yourself up to new experiences and insights. To dream of your friend's twin brother drilling holes in the walls which when you get too close to the drill end up getting killed, is an aspect of yourself that you are wary of letting anybody know about lest you frighten people off. To dream about one's head in your dream, signifies wisdom, intellect, understanding and rationality. It may also represent your accomplishments, self-image, and perception of the world. The dream may also be metaphor to indicate that you need to get "ahead" in some situation. To dream of getting killed by a drill into the skull could mean a caution to take care, IOW choose the proper people to expose a previously hidden aspect of yourself to. To dream that your friend is dying, suggests the consequences of insufficient care in choosing who to divulge a secret to, IOW if you don't want to kill your dream of successfully integrating a previously hidden aspect of yourself into your public life, then take your time and choose your friends carefully and choose the moment correctly.

auntblabby, how are you so good at finding the meanings of dreams?

I looked up at the night sky and saw that it was a full moon last Sunday. For several seconds, I stared at it and made a wish to dream that night. I remember Moog saying that a full moon brings him a different kind of dream. I would have been happy just for any dream at all. Do I dream and not just remember any of them?

gosh  thanx beaucoup, Esther :D but to be honest, all i do is go on www.dreammoods.com and crib generic dream symbology notes therein, modify them by connecting the dots between the lines [a combo of judicious editing/reframing, extrapolation and interpolation] and bending and shaping until it seems plausibly right to this aspie schizoid mind, then i hit "submit" and hope for the best.

gee, that was a very poetic meditation on dreaming and wish fulfillment. 8) the bulk of humanity [and many different animals] dream when they reach a certain memory consolidation stage of sleep. i will pray for you to better remember your dreams. i remember mine because-

*dreams are free entertainment, nocturnal movies made just for ME :D 8) by dint of that, they are memorable and i am thankful for them-
*dreams are better retained if one habitually and obsessively rehashes [going over them from beginning to end] them PROMPTLY upon reaching conscious awareness upon emerging from slumber, and especially if one tries to augment them so they go on longer, a sort-of after-the-fact lucid dreaming. this works best if one doesn't have to submit to the damned alarm clock or rat race in the morning. the alarm clock has obliterated many an interesting dream on my part. i hope this helps you.
happy dreaming 8)

Here's some tips I've picked up about dreaming

Intention is powerful, tell yourself you want to remember your dreams and you will.
Consolidate your dream recall by writing dreams down, in note form if you're pushed for time.
When you wake, don't move, and try to recall any dreams.
Try setting an alarm to wake you up somewhat before your usual waking time... you can often catch yourself mid dream this way.

the problem with alarms is that more often than not, you will chop a dream in half with one. this has happened to me more often than i can shake a stick at :x
once i was freed from the tyranny of the alarm clock, my dreams could unfold to their natural conclusions, and since then i've had oh so many more long dreams that i could recall with much more detail. before then, i only remembered my dreams on days-off of work.

Yes that's true, you will curtail the dream, but you might well remember it! This happened to me this morning, as I had to wake up before I was really ready. I used to regularly set my alarm for say, 6, then fall back to sleep until 8. You might need 2 alarm clocks if you have commitments!

Dreamed I was Alan Partridge, and I was in a service station buying sweeties for someone (I think it was Lynn), in an attempt to make up for something I'd done, or perhaps simply to be nice. But I couldn't commit to the niceness entirely, so I had to open the packet to eat some of the jelly babies, but they weren't jelly babies inside, they were jelly dummies, like this

I had a dream of throwing countless painted balls at my Latin teacher, who was standing one store beneath me. :?
