While I only have a 'vague' outline as to what goes on in Marvel comic continuity nowadays, there is something I like about the Fantastic four. Unlike the X-men who are a metaphor for anti-discrimination in a lot of what they do or an 'all-star' team like the Avengers, the Fantastic four are relatively low-key.

Without say pondering about the 'power levels' of their usual antagonists (Doom is significant for being the 2nd smartest person and an adversary to the wider Marvel as is Galactus in his own reluctant and ambivalent 'more like a force of nature/space deity' way), their a family of science explorers and that has a lot of potential. I think/ have read how the optimism of that was explored in the 'Tom Strong' comics which were published under DC imprints. Given the wider connectivity of the Marvel comics, I can understand how that's never been 'fleshed out' as often but maybe after the next possible wave of movie adaptations it will be demonstrated more.

Like with the 'ninja turtles', it's one of those comics I can pick up and read without fussing about continuity and what else has been going on and am more likely to read with an expectation of 'casual fun'.

I had feverish dreams last night. Yet, they were not dark and horrific, but more calm and hopeful. Strange feeling to wake up to.
