For years its been Beethoven late Quartets, particularly by the Hungary Quartet, recorded Paris early 1950's. Wow - nothing better. Listen to op59 - 1, 2 and 3. These are the Rasumovsky quartets, written for Count ......

Sorry to say this, not trying to brag, but Beethoven is the only person I've heard that thinks like me. He wandered in the countryside (as I do) and composed in his head his incredible compositions.

Listening to a string quartet involves following each instrument as it 'performs' - follow each instruments thread and see how it interweaves. Lots of food for thought!
