I had a dream this morning after falling briefly back to sleep after my alarm.

I was dancing with someone, in some vast dark hall, it was like something between an indoor mall and an underground car park. We were dancing in a style like something between ballroom dancing and Sufi whirling. I was thinking that it was kinda boring, but just as I thought that, the intensity of it all sort of ramped up as we kept dancing, until it was exhilarating and euphoric.

That sounds like a lovely dream. It made me think, "What is Sufi whirling? That sounds like something I'd like to learn." So I looked up a video and it turns out that it's basically the same exact thing I already like to do, wide skirt and all. :? I just don't raise my hands quite so high. Now I think, how can a culture claim such a thing as its own? Surely this is a common thing for people around the world to do, even if they don't do it in public or as an art form. :? All the same, I like it and will have to try the Sufi-style arm movements as well.

My latest wierd dream involved the fourth Doctor Who, who was helping with some computing problems at work. He said some very witty things so I thought I had better wake myself up and record them. Despite tried to wake up I was actually still dreaming about being in bed. So I gave up and the dream continued. Pah. I need a direct link to upload enjoyable dreams, some of them play out like tv shows and i'd want to see them again.

I dreamt there was a flood. My bicycle had been ruined in the earthquake, so I had to borrow someone else's. I was the last person not to leave the area I was in because I had important papers which I had to keep safe so that I could get them to someone after the flood. There were a lot of people in the streets, walking toward the center of the island. Water from the ocean washed over us in waves. No one panicked. The day was perfectly beautiful: warm, the sun shining through a brilliant, blue sky. I rode all over the island looking for a spot to park my bike, all the while watching the water roll in. I parked my bike and walked around.

After the flood had started to recede, people began to panic: with the grocery stores flooded, where would they get food? I followed a girl into a supermarket and ate a grape. There were so many seeds, I had trouble spitting them all out.

i had a strange dream where my mother was still alive, and i was reading the newspaper where it talked about a buddhist festival at a local buddhist center, and i asked my mother if she would go with me, and she gladly agreed. but as i was awaking from the dream i realized that this was bogus because in her life my mother hated the buddhist church.

then i fell back asleep and i dreamt i was in training to be an astronaut, and in one training exercise i had to deal with a catastrophic air leak in a capsule. after this was done, i was sent out on a mission to collect two corpses of dead astronauts whose space suits had failed them out on EVAs. for some reason the bodies were shed of their spacesuits and were naked, resting on parkbenches [in outer space!] covered over with old newsprint.

Within the last 2 weeks I've had the dream where I'm driving a car in some place, and the brakes don't work, and I can't stop. I've had this dream probably 20 times in the past few years, and I don't know why.

from dreammoods.com-

Brakes
To dream that you are applying your brakes, signifies that you should slow down in your business and/or personal affairs. You have been living on the fast lane and you need to take it easy.

To dream that your brakes fail, forewarns that you lack stability in your life. Now is not the time to take risks. Your life is out of control and you need to make some significant changes.

Standing on a railway platform in Italy after midnight. Along comes a train whose carriages are all in the shape of barns complete with tiled roofs. I get on. A piano trio is playing the andante con moto from Schubert's 2nd. The three of them are naked. An ancient woman with a heavily powdered face asks me if I had met Berio. 'Terrible breath he had'. I tell her 'no'. 'Oh, you are English. What do the English know of music? Or art? Go away. You bore me.'

The next carriage is arranged like a miniature shopping mall. In one shop window I see my living room on display, right down to the books on my shelves. Everything is priced at €1. As I turn to walk on, a crowd of partygoers go past. They all have empty glasses in their hands and are shouting for someone called Ben. In the next carriage a group of footballers, most covered in mud, strip down to go shower. A woman whose lipstick glows so bright I have to look away, stands before a giant blank canvas asking 'Who's the prettiest? Who's worth the effort to paint? Such nice arses you all have.' One of the footballers stands in front of her and pisses over her dress. She appears not to mind because she rubs it into the fabric.

A conductor passes by and tells the footballer his team is s**t and should never have won the match. Then he whispers to me that my stop is the next one. I get off and watch as the train disappears from sight. But it isn't my stop. I have no real idea where I am. It's the early hours of the morning and the station is deserted. Outside I see a road sign for Siena and start walking.

After a while a car pulls up. The window winds down and I hear, 'Ben? Is that you? What are you doing walking? I said I'd pick you up. I was just a little late that's all. Get in.' I tell him I'm not Ben. Then another window winds down and I see the ancient woman with the powdered face who'd earlier asked me about Berio. 'Don't be silly, Ben. It's too far to walk. Get in.' I tell her I'm not Ben, but I get in anyway and sit beside the driver. Then the doors all lock. The man driving has a horribly scarred face. He looks in his rear-view mirror and asks. 'What do you think mother? Will this one do? He's the right size.' I look behind me and see that she's holding a cut-throat razor. Then she lunges at me and slashes my head. I feel blood pouring down my face, into my eyes and into my mouth.

I woke up and heard myself utter the most feeble and half-hearted 'no'. That bothered me much more than the dream.

I was in a tunnel, and at the end of this tunnel was a mirror, and the mirror was a portal to another realm. I was talking through it to a very strange looking but very charming alien woman who wanted me to come through the mirror to her side. We seemed to talk for a long time, but eventually I was convinced.

But when I went through, she instantly changed, and was no longer charming. In fact, she almost completely ignored me. I realised that she was a demon. I got the impression that I was now a slave trapped in this world. She had dozens of other slaves, and she had them all playing music on strange instruments. Very odd music, I wish I could describe it. I guessed that I was to be another member of this slave band.

I looked around, and I recognised a woman I knew was my girlfriend. She had come through the portal herself, looking for me. And I was really upset with her, I thought she had done something really stupid, which is kind of hypocritical

I had a nightmare last night. A girl I knew was in trouble & ran off scared & I was desperately trying to find her.

Can having music on while you sleep influence dreams? If they can; I should start listening Miranda Cosgrove while I sleep. Every good dream I had in the last year has been about her.

I just had a new weirdest dream. I dreamt I was in high school in a mountain town in Colorado that gets overtaken by 2 female Saudi terrorists. I'm in a room with an acquaintance of mine when they start killing people and I'm watching this happen on a tv set. Then they find us and they lead us into a parking lot, pour gas on me and set me on fire. I can feel the heat on my hands when a thought crosses my mind "being set on fire is where I draw the line. This dream is over." Then I wake up.

i dreamt i was sitting in a car outside of some brick building on a gray overcast day, and this lady and her dog walked by, and for some reason i opened my car door and her dog, a grayish/white labrador retriever, hopped in with tail wagging, and laid his upper body across my lap and chest, and looked at me with such an expression of love and devotion, its caring eyes stared into mine, that my heart melted. i noted this was most unusual because in real life dogs more often than not snap at me. so i pet it, scratching around its ears and carressing its head and stroking its torso, and the dog set its head down on my chest and closed its eyes and sighed contentedly, and then the lady said words to the effect, "that sure is strange, normally he doesn't take to strangers like this!" then i awoke.

I had a dream that a fire started in my apartment because of some short circuit. I managed to blow it out but apparently unsuccessfully. I went out with my roommate and my cats for a walk and when I got home I saw that the whole apartment burnt down. It was all black because of the smoke. I remember thinking to myself that everything I had was gone and I had no place to live. I started crying and then I woke up.
I never had a dream about a fire before so that was very new and strange.

I got chased after by a purple clown on a unicycle through a city, I tripped over and he ate me then I woke up.

I need to lay off... Whatever I was taking that day.

I had a dream I was playing Sudoku and some guy I know came up and said "Numbers are stupid", then walked away.

Last night, I dreamt about an ex-girlfriend (from real life), and she had the same voice, same face, but... male parts. Overall it was a strange dream, which included making replica hands in school, and having to open the window because I was extremely hot, and bathing in public (where I observed the aforementioned genitals). There might've been more, but that's all I remember. I'm sure that's saying something about me. Although, I already know I am a closet bisexual. :P
