Mine is just wacky. If I go into another room to get something, my memory stays in the room I've just left, as if it was sitting next to me and couldn't be bothered to come with me. So I can't remember what I was going to get, but when I go back in the original room, I remember.

I think it's something to do with having tons of fascinating thoughts all the time. They push the thing I need to remember out of my head. The egg-heads measure that and call it "working memory." They tested me on it when I was in hospital to make sure it was safe to let me out. They gave me some numbers to remember and then distracted me for a few minutes talking about other things. Then they asked me to recall the numbers and I got them right, so they let me out.

I also did an online test for working memory. First attempt, crap. Second attempt, not too bad. Third attempt, excellent. And it wasn't the same info every time. But in real life my short-term memory is crap. I think it depends on whether or not I make a big effort to memorise the stuff. Usually I don't. But for tests I do because I like to pass tests.

I saw a customer who reminds me of Mrs. Oleson at the flea market today. It was her mannerisms.

Why does food taste better when other people cook it

I don't think I'm a bad cook, I think I'm lazy and somehow it tastes better when I don't have to do any work

I like baking but sadly I can't live on cake

I'm the opposite. Some other people's cooking isn't exactly bad, but I'm the only one who understands my own strange preferences. I'm not a good cook if you measure it by how many different recipes I can do, but the few things I do, I usually do very well, as judged by my own unusual standards. For example, how many people would cut salad into little pieces and serve it in a bowl with a spoon? The reason I insist on that is that I usually watch videos while I'm eating, and I don't want to have to keep messing with the food, I just want to shovel it in without having to keep looking at it because I'd have to avert my gaze from the TV screen.

I could give the cook my instructions, but I don't want to come over as prescriptive and weird unless I'm paying them to do the job, and I don't want a servant. I'd rather just fix it myself. I'm fairly efficient at that because I'm usually busy. I've also got a balanced diet and there's loads of types of food I don't like.

I don't like most of them, but one or two have been useful. The Aspie-Quiz gave me the first strong evidence that I had ASD. The working memory test didn't tell me much because the results were different every time, but it did tell me that something weird might be going on in my noggin. But from my point of view a lot of online tests are useless.
