People dream about the things that they wish would happen to them in real life, though they know that those things probably won't happen. Take the end of my strange dream that I had a few weeks ago for example.

you can get "free" water [as long as one lives near a very large body of water] by using some fairly old technology dating back thousands of years- "fog fences" use large sheets of canvas or close-order wire mesh racks to extract the water from humid locales such as beach overlooks over large bodies of water, where at dawn/dusk fog is common. the airborne water vapor deposits upon the mesh or canvas wall as beads which drip down into collection buckets. several liters of water per day may be gotten this day, but of course that water needs to be boiled/evaporated to desalinate/sterilize it.
you can also get free "air conditioning" [cooling air] via the centuries old [ancient romans used 'em] technique of building a solar chimney consisting of a matte black-painted vertical stack/tube to enhance the natural stack ventilation available in any fenestrated building. most basically, the solar chimney is a black-painted chimney. during the day solar energy heats the chimney and the air within it, creating an air current updraft in the chimney. the suction created at the chimney's base can be used to ventilate and cool the building below. in many areas on earth it's easier to harness wind power for such ventilation as is done with a windtower, but on hot windless days a solar chimney can provide ventilation where otherwise there would be none. this technique can be augmented via an underground duct [the earth being cooler than the ambient outdoor temperature, adding natural air-conditioning to the source air] leading from a shaded wind-collection area. also the normally hot heat-collecting attic of most buildings can be used to add heat to the chimney to further speed the updraft of hot air out of the building's rooftop ventilation duct.
come wintertime i will gab about trombe walls for free heating.

organs [the home kind of console model keyboard musical instrument, made by the likes of hammond, conn, baldwin, thomas, gulbransen et al] used to be a staple item in homes all across america as well as in many hotel lobbies and many hotel/motel rooms. nowadays hardly anybody has an organ.

Dear Rabbitears, I have had a delightful time reading about the screaming loonies in history who managed to convince others of their tall tales and schemes...so far, the English woman who claimed to be giving birth to dead baby rabbits seems about the best ( worst?) !

I had thought that Phil Lynott's drug use was what cost him his job(s) and friends; and,finally, his life. I saw a very brief interview with his mother years ago, her heart was broken, she never really recovered from his loss....so sad.

Hello, Sylkat. Yes from all accounts I hear, heroin use rather did a number on poor Phil. The skid row thing was before thin lizzy but I thought it rather ironic that he went on to become a fine singer/songwriter and a funky bassist too. They are touring again with Brian Downey and Scott Gorham but it's so different it's sad..

Remains were recently found of about 50 'Giant Wombats'. The proper name is Diprotodon, it was the size of a Rhinoceros, and weighed about 6,000 pounds. The reason so many died in one place is, theoretically, that it was a bog or swamp, and that when they came for water,they were attacked and eaten by huge crocodiles or other saurians, teeth of which were found amongst the poor Diprotodon's bones.
