Because otherwise they'd have a clue, and actually work towards doing something good instead of testing those spangly new guns they found in their shed. Since they're doing that, the naturally stupid order of the world (and its microchips) is retained.

Why haven't we evolved into cool dinosaur-people instead of stupid monkey-men?
