I moved out on my own because my parents didn't accept my special interests and I didn't want to be silenced anymore. It's pretty hard living with people who think that autism is an illness that should be cured when it's a wonderful difference that's beautiful like all other differences.

I noticed a common theme among most of my special interests: they're all movies and anime that are dark in tone and feature the characters being emotionally/mentally tormented. I'm an artistic person, and I believe that art can be used as a means of expressing one's own inner turmoil. I feel like when I'm crying along with the characters in the movies/anime, I'm emotionally connected to the artist(s) behind whatever I'm watching.
