It's funny to literally mess with their minds because cold reading is basically all they can do (albeit quite well, judging from the repeated marks). Have you heard of the anecdote about the Psychic Convention being cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances?

I recall some flake I went to highschool with claimed to be "mildly psychic" so I threw an orange at his head. It hit him. So much for mildly psychic
