Past Lives
I believe in past lives, but I don't remember much of any of mine (haven't tried past life regression, which one of my friends tells me is amazing)...
What I do remember, I was at an outlet of a lake near a wooded area, and there was a dock, and an old broken wagon was half submerged in the shallow water, rusting away (I could see a wheel sticking out). There was an old wooden house nearby (planks, I think), that someone still lived in, and across the lake were fields and marshes...and somewhere nearer to my own home (I don't think the previous mentioned house belonged to me) was a hill with a big twisty tree atop it, not unlike a maple or a willow.
I'm probably 75% certain this was an actual memory and not from a TV show or something...of course, I suppose it could've been just a dream.
Also slightly related, when I was around two years old, I had a dream that I was climbing the Stairway to Heaven...way to scare the pants off a little kid ![]()

Past lives?
How about UFOs? Does anyone here believe the lights in the sky are aliens?
Ghosts?
Do you also believe in the invisible man in the sky who controls everything and will smite you like a bug unless you pray? (Just please remember to leave some money behind on your way out of the place of worship, thanks!
)
How about Santa Claus? Do you believe in that too?
Those are just some examples of the Bad Word: 'believe'. We either know or we don't. Believing is not based on reason or logic.
This group constantly reels against "society", and yet you too fall for the same socially acceptable delusions.
WTF is wrong with you? The self-delusion which the vast majority of people not only accept but embrace willingly makes me sad, frustrated and angry.
Geez people take it easy.
I'm an atheist but I still like to fiddle in Tarot, Palmistry and Astrology oh and my main subjects of interests involve ancient polytheistic beliefs. Doesn't necessarily make me a believer in them...
And Dilbert why do got to be f*****g rude to the OP? It's not as if she's trying to convert you into an orthodox religion of pastlives...
I don't think you need to insult someone to prove your point or opposing theory, but that's just my opinion. This isn't the Political Philosophical Religious forum you know....

And WTF is wrong with you? Arguement with your parents? girlfriend? wife? Just lost your job? If your post is an example of how you deal with stress, then i leave this thread feeling a lot better about myself.
It's a donation plate, bag or box used so they can get money to pay the bills for the building, lights and so forth. Hence the "give to God" line......
I will focus back to OPs topic now..

Everyone is always bloody royalty in a past life. As a joke I used to say, "remember the Titanic? I shoveled coal into the furnace until it blew up ! !"
Hahahhahhahahahhaaa

That 'reels against' was intended to be 'rebels against' or 'rails against', yes?
There is a reciprocal to wishing the world tolerant of aspies, in aspies being tolerant of the world.
"Beliefs" held by a society or a person are part of their identity, part of what it is that makes them who they are. Part of their being them, and not someone else.
There is a reciprocal to aspies wishing the world not constantly tell us aspies we're wrong for being what/who we are, in aspies not tellng the world they are wrong for being who they are.
Acceptance is not a one way road.
And it can be work to allow the other way.
"Belief" is not useless, it is where 'knowledge' originates - there is 'belief' that something may be so or may not be so: that 'belief' is investigated to find evidence to support or not support it.
Such investigations can take hours to days to years to centuries.
and once the investigation is complete it might take the same amount of time for the knowledge to be shared and accepted.
History records that.
Example from recent decades - have heard of a man who better than ten years ago said there is water on Mars, he was laughed at as a kook. Well, guess what, NASA's whatever it's named lander has found water on Mars.
Peoples' beliefs are part of their identity - ridicule their belief and that ridicules the specific person holding that belief.
It is cruel for NTs to ridicule aspies.
It is cruel for aspies to ridicule aspies.
It is hypocritical and cruel for aspies to ridicule NTs
Simply state agreement or disagreement with a given belief, provide why, and stop.

Back after a break for chocolate
yummy!
I feel a need, may be just a thing for myself, to say more

We don't know either way for sure at this time - not enough information collected yet.
Don't know when, or if, there will ever be enough information collected.
We are still working on finding out why there are so many languages we humans speak.
Linguists don't know if there might or might not have been one original language and where it might have been: and there is much debate, often quite heated and vindictive, about that between themselves.
Have heard several very good presentations showing the the "religious" and "Christians" even have that wrong among themselves. Their own sourcebook demonstrates otherwise and such a view is not in line with their own scriptures. God does not directly 'control' "everything" but has set up a system within which people can make their own choices with their resulting outcomes, good or bad. God lays out very clearly what will get a person in trouble with him, and/or with other people, and what will not. And provides examples of results of good decisions and of bad decisions. And then God gives a grace full way to overcome the final consequence of those.
Back to the languages thing, the Christian's Bible has a story which says originally there was one language then as a consequence of something the people did God broke them up by causing different languages. A number of other ancient writings archeologists have discovered give similar stories.
Here's where a 'belief' comes in -> with different sources telling similar stories about why there are different languages, I 'believe' that might be true and will investigate that.
Probably not an investigation which will be completed in a weekend.
Probably not in the lifetime careers of several people.
Similarly, there are people looking into these beliefs of past lives, aliens, ghosts, et cetera.
Some investigations and researchers are, oh what's the word? valid, some are not. Just like researchers in medicine. These things need to be investigated to show which are reality and which are myth.
Just like the realities and myths about Asperger's.
My understanding of that is as in post above in that it is a practical matter to pay operating costs of the property and operation. It is also said to be a way to say 'thank you' to the God who they believe has given them grace and mercy and shown them how to live as best as possible.
It also provides money to charities to help people in trouble.
I have been a recipient of some of their help and I thank them and am very grateful they showed me the mercy and kindness their God calls them to do.
When I am able, I would like to donate to the fund which they gave to me from because I am thankful for their assistance.
As with anything any humans do, any of the above can be distorted and abused, and is. And is not.
I believe in the idea of giving to those you care about just because you wish to give.
That is perhaps what "Santa Clause" really is.

I used to, until I read The Mothman Prophecies...now I don't know what the heck to believe. Every time John thought he had another clue, something completely different would happen to lead him right back to "Okay, WTF is going on here???" He has a theory that these lights actually come from a source on Earth, whether it's just from an alternate plane of existance or what, he can't be sure.
Whether it's aliens or thunderbirds or witches, "mysterious lights in the sky" have been documented for thousands of years...so there's definitely something going on. I haven't seen anything like that for myself, besides videos people have recorded...not sure if I'd want to. I'd probably have to go somewhere less populated if I did want to see anything.
I've seen way too many ghosts and ghost activities with my own eyes/ears/senses to not believe, and heard way too many stories from reliable sources. I've had two completely different people who didn't know each other, see the exact same ghosts, in the exact same place, on two completely different nights, while I was with them.
I don't know, some people believe that ghosts are actually just some sort of physical memory of an event that happened, some sort of energy left behind...but I think even that explaination doesn't quite have enough scientific grounding.

^ Yes, I do. He may have died, but we keep his spirit alive, and I think that's pretty important (even if he has been embellished a bit in order to sell Coke).

This is soooo silly.
Nobody ever says, "I was a peasant back in the dark ages, and died of the plague at age 12."
Oh no.
Everybody was Prince so and so, or bloody Napolean ....

I believe I did have many past lives even though I cannot remember any of the details - I find past life memories are frankly impossible to recover. But I know for many years as a child I had a gut feeling I was much older than my modest age suggested. As I aged that gut feeling dissipated but it was very much present as I was younger. I just feel the fact we are alive in this world is by virtue of the fact we are either dead or yet to be born in a plethora of alternative worlds.
I feel what happens when you die you simply forget that you were ever born in the first place. So I feel that leaves the way wide open for another brain to parallel your sense of self as much as the old dead one did. There is nothing in the universe to remind you that you have already spent your life. So each life you live will be exactly equivalent to a brand new adventure.
As strange as it seems your "future" life could be a live that existed in the historical past relative to this one. You find yourself being raised as a young child of ancient Greece or the Aegean because I believe since all memories are destroyed with the death of your mortal brain it would be impossible to keep track of the place in history you happen to be born in
Those gut feelings that you have existed in previous live arise from more instinctual memories such as the libido. Like you have a instinctive memory that something good is going arise from your first sexual experience such as an orgasm, in spite of the fact you had never had one in your current life. Also the suckling memory as a baby is other one of those instinctual memories. It is all those instinctual of genetic behavioural memories rather than fanciful episodic memories of saying fighting in Napoleon’s army that more rings true that I have been in this world for an extraordinary long time.
