We have 3 dogs because my wife is a "dog-saver" and actually cats need less help. Actually I prefer cats they are less "noisy" and they need less care, they are more like "me".

I have the special bond with animals too. All kinds. I'll be the odd one out and say I love dogs in a deep way. Largely for the reasons people like cats actually it seems, they don't judge by the same criteria as NTs.

Generally a hyperactive dog is anxious or unhappy in some way and overcompensating. With me they're calm and quiet usually. Think of a wolf, quietly watchful and serene but with a quick mind. I think NTs in particular try to relate to them in a very human way and actually their language is different and often misinterpreted.

I just seem to speak their language. They'll often seek me out or let me approach them. They're also an interest of mine and I love learning about how they think.

I also like cats but don't have as much experience. They do approach me if I meet one in the street though sometimes and we say hello in our way.

I am not that fond of them. They wanna sit on top of everything, knock things down, sleep all day and poop in the house (litter box). I wouldn't mind having them if they could be trained to go outside to use the bathroom and if they would stay off everything, especially tables and counters.

I am a dog person and LOVE them to death. Ever since i can remember. The girls in school always wondered why i liked dogs so much cause they all liked cats. My son also likes dogs more, but he likes cats much more than i do.

LOOL! That video was really funny :D
And Im a catlover too. I got my first when I was 6 years old and she was a true and only friend during my childhood. Since then I have great confidence in cats. They have a very clear communication manner and is very independent. I have great difficulties with dogs. They are so hyperactive and make much noise and other things that does not fit with my AS personality....

Cats can be trained quite easily. Keeping them off tables and counters is as easy as a loud noise or a squirt of water and eventually they get the idea. I've only ever had indoor cats but if you get a kitten and start them off right away going outside for their business they'll learn quickly. I've also heard of cats using a toilet but I have no idea how you'd train them to do that.

I like cats. :) And I think the book "All Cats Have Asperger Syndrome" has a good point, I'm pretty sure humans aren't the only living creatures that can get Asperger's. :P

LOL! You won't believe how many videos me and my son have watched of cats using the toilet! It's hilarious! We love cat videos! I am particular about the toilet, so that wouldn't work. I do know they can be trained. We had a neighbor that had a cat and two dogs. It would do like the dogs and go to the back door to be let out to use the bathroom. I think it'd be easier to teach a dog. Then again, i have never taught a cat before.

LOL nice. If I had a cat I'd want to train it to do it's business outside and keep it around the house rather than wandering around the neighbourhood.

I have an 8 year old cat named Rocco, and he's such a good cat. He's very quiet and will come up to me when I'm on the couch. I don't know what I'd do without him. :)
