When someone wants to show me a picture of their child(ren) it goes like this:
"I have this really cuuuuute picture of my baby, wanna see?!"
"Seen it."
"Well here...what? When did you see it?"
"I've seen what a baby looks like, no need to show the picture."
"But it wasn't a picture of my baby! Mine is TOTALLY cuter!"
"Is it bald? Wrinkley? Ugly as hell? is it's head disproportional to it's body? Does it cry and defecate all over itself? Yeah, I've seen it."
Of course, that tends to anger some people.

But...why ?
Because I don't want to look at the pictures, simple.

...Something else that amazes me is photos of there kids that they got done at a studio, and they think the photos look great, when in reality a chimp could have done a better job.

Oh, goodness I thought I was the only one who thought that!
I mean, most "studio" pictures I see have crappy lighting, crappy angles, crappy poses, crappy smiles, and just look... crappy. They are also so common and artificially posed.
If you are very familar with photoshop, well sometimes studio pictures they tend to use Photoshop and correct the pictures and the lightings so they end up looking almost as perfect but imo, I would go to a studio and have my pictures of my kids (if I would ever get one) but I wouldn't advertise it to anyone else.
I can only speak for myself, but I meant more like very badly composed, with the child sitting to far away, with some crappy very fake looking backdrop, and crappy looking props, with fake looking poses. They are all cookie cutter looking, they have a line of people waiting to get there photos taken, and they just march them in one after another and leave everything the same for each kid and let the parent choose from cheesy backdrops. As a general rule, if it is shot inside, the person should fill most of the frame or at least the width, and a solid non distracting backdrop is best, you should be able to clearly see the eyes as very sharp. If the photographer lets you chose clouds as your backdrop (or something equaly as cheesy) then it is a fail. If you walk in there and even see clouds, you should go somewere else, lol.
Sadly, my high school senior pictures were shot with a cloud backdrop at Sears, and my mom thought they were great lol

Why do people think you want to look at photos of their children?
I mean, all babies look the same unless its your own. Yawn.
People spam their facebooks of pics of their children etc, post them on forums. imo photos of your children are for the family to look at or maybe one family pic to slip into a Christmas letter.
I know the parents are proud of their own kids but who else really cares?

hale_bopp, you are not alone...
there is even a blog regarding this phenomenon of sharing details of little so-and-so and their first smile/laugh/steps/flu/gastro... or how they just did the most adorable/cute/horrible thing etc etc.

hahhahah! lol.
Its okay showing a few... but SPAMMING... Publishing about 60 photos to facebook, yeah its annoying. Good thing facebook have a "hide" option.
That's what albums are for. People upload their pictures and you have the option to look at them. I uploaded bunch of me wedding photos and honeymoon pictures because my old school mates wanted to see them. I plan to put my pregnancy pictures there too and my child when it happens.
