i've seen gamefaqs and lurk there often it can get bad, but no forum i have seen compares to the taint that is conquer forums, i remember when every topic had a fight in it, now all they do is well... ok maybe it hasn't changed much. at least on person was nice enough to help me find dice after 2 or 3 years.

khvids.net isn't to bad they watch it closely. but i'm almost scared to post on conquer cause i know they will eat me alive.

world of warcraft forums is only bad if you don't have, good gear, high achiev points, and all the right gems. if you speak your mind under those conditions you may as well just jump in the wolf pit head first. i never had all the right stuff.

devaint art forums, once again only bad if you're not, popular, good artist, or draw parings. post basicly anything and your good as done.

storm artists forum, so far full of helpful kind people but i'll see in time my AS always draws the wrong attention.

i'm not even sure what i do wrong even got yelled at by a mod on khvids and i still to this day don't know what i did wrong.

They see their message boards as pecking orders.

Most gaming sites are like that, although some are worse than others.

That's because it was GameFaqs, a bunch of video game loving nerds, including me. If somebody find something wrong with your post there they say it and it wont be sugarcoated. The only place here with a similar attitude is the Religion board, and even then it isn't the same.

On the 'Religion' board, or rather PPR, it's usually not the ones who are "religious" who are doing the inconsiderate bashing of other's perspectives, is it? Lately I've been getting irritated with Sand and his insinuations and rhetoric, and so have written while angry, but generally it is not the "religious" ones who demonstrate such an attitude IMO. Would that be correct? It probably wasn't something you were trying to imply, but it seemed like a possible corollary.

I post on a gaming forum also, it is particular to Stardock though and not like GameFAQs, but it would sound like GameFAQs has a laissez-faire philosophy regarding moderation.

Yes, I noticed that some bashing around here in the past. I didn't note where Sand bashed lately, though. Here's are some personal attacks I noticed in the religion/philosophy forum the past couple of years. :x

"Your'e delusonal."
"Your religion/belief is stupid/garbage/ect.."
"(group here) is (negative, ignorant comparison here)"
"Santa? Easter Bunny?"

These same people seriously expect everyone to listen to them, and 'understand them" in a possitive way?! Yeah, good luck with that, guys.
.......................

Original poster. Other places can be worse than Wrong Planet, in my experiance to. I have seen replies like that in Blizzard's forums with other people countless times. I once wrote about an error that happened with a in game portal, just so people would know. Some people just don't get a poster's point.

'headack image'
"Shut up, Troll!"
Her 'respondant': "And your'e trolling in a trolling troll thread!"
A couple more attacks
One person "Gee, guys that's harsh. Meew."
I replied to one 'player' who posted on a cow-man, calmly and maturely, only to get this "Maybe you didn't read my point, ret*d!" Tah, that word again.

Same thing happened before that, when I mentioned with other people that fire works didn't go off in a certain town for a seasonal like they were supposed to. My mother was on her account in another city where it worked on time. Same time, I was in the area that had an error. The goblins clearly had the time listed, as did the calendar. I checked the calendar and goblins 4-13 times through the week prior to it. After that passed, another time was posted on the goblins and the calendar, which really frustrated me and some others.

The one I was in never came. I was called, "Troll", "moron", told how to play, how to click the calendar, how to click a creature, and "slowly" instructed how to check the difference between in game time and real world time in the thread. I played that game for over six years, and had two level 80s, posting in forum, by the way, ON a level 46 Mage!

Rude repliers are the real idiots, since they can't use mature intellegance. Just my oppinion..

Hardcore gamers can be just obnoxious. It carries over into real life sometimes, where they forget face-to-face insults can have far worse consequences than leaving a mean post on a message board. (No offense if you're a gamer and you're cool.)

I think that our message board, is the best one for us, to be posting on. We're like family. We understand each other.

I don't do too well on forums.

Even sophisticated ones make me feel isolated. Trouble with some of them is they're too close knit and cliquey while in others...well they're undermoderated. I'm kind of use to mean people though even in the real world. It's something I've had to deal with a long time. I think my biggest peeve though is forums where people pretend to be nice but leave you out in the cold especially those ones where you earn frugals or points. Most of it is built around favoritism and how well enough one knows another. Though I do like the idea of frugals or karma or points if it just wasn't because someone was really good friends with someone else online. It's like waiting in line behind a couple who's busy making out.

I am admin of a school alumni forum, and it is a small world there, and I make sure there is no flaming. If any flaming arises, I delete the offending posts and warn the members by PM. It is a friendly and happy forum.

I believe forums are friendly, when well moderated.

IMHO, Wrong Planet is a good friendly forum, though there are some hot debates in places. As others say, gaming forums are more casually moderated.

I was a fan club member of a certain Christian singer and the people on there were so rude! I would think Christians would at least know better, but it doesn't matter what religion a person is. I left that site. This site is good. Also I belong to IC forum and the people on there are helpful and nice too.

I have visited a great many forums on a variety of subjects ranging from new forums though philosophy to science and psychology.
I find most NT(pardon the inexcusable generalisation) dominated forums rather harsh. I am much more at ease in places like this one. I even found a wonderful friendly ADD forum where I have become a mod.
Somehow forums such as these are more my crowd where people understand each other. I often cant figure out NT's and they cant figure me out either.

Worse yet, I am not one to blindly believe in authority. Some forums are dominated by people who have read all these big important books by great philosophers and they simply cant fathom that anyone else can ever produce a worthwhile original thought.

And finally, I dislike conflict and unfriendliness. I am very ill at ease in places where people insult each other, call each other names etc.
