I'll kill any bugs that annoy me without remorse; I can't sleep or concentrate with them buzzing around.

I don't like killing bugs - I feel terrible when I do because I think their lives are so short anyway. So I go to great lengths to avoid it - even mosquitoes. It's just not a fair fight. And bugs are repulsive squished. I'd rather let them crawl away with all their insides neatly contained in their bodies than have to wipe them up.

...But that is exactly the main reason why I'm OK with killing bugs. I must be the only bug killer here. :silent:

Why would anyone want to kill a ladybug? Ladybugs are so amiable! :)

humans are small and igsnificant based on there scale to other life forms

Okay, I guess I'd feel some remorse over accidentally killing a small bug (unless it's a fire ant and it stings me), but it's not like I'm going to cry over it.
well if it stung you, then its justified insecticed to its agrrivated buggery

Because a small sting is worth killing something over? That's like beating somebody to death because they touched you while walking past.

All bugs freak me out, spiders and moths/butterflies creep me out the most. I can't squish them, a mix between guilt and gross-ness, but I will flush them or send someone else after them. I used to send my dog after spiders, but she prefers to simply play with them or squish them into a surface and leave the mangled parts for me to deal with.

Butterflies and moths with actually drive me out of a room. I cringe just thinking about them.

If they sting or bite me or if I'm pretty darn sure they're going to, that bug is going to die. But I don't going around killing bugs just to kill bugs. Oh Gods, I sound like I'm pitching for NRA here.

If I see a bug in the house, I will pick it up and put it outside, because I don't have it in me to kill them. I also pick snails up from the garden path and put them on the soil, to avoid stepping on them.

Every species of insect have an important role to play in the ecology, whether we like them or not. They in my opinion, are far more important than the humans are, when considering their role in nature. Ecologically, human is a harmful species, considering pollution, deforestation, mass extinction.

* Bees, wasps are pollinators
* ichnuemen wasps keep the number of caterpillar and insect larvae down and in balance
* flies and their larvae function as decomposers, otherwise the planet would be shoulder high with corpses
* beetles are similar scavengers, converting plant material to humus /compost
* ladybirds are predators that keep aphid population in balance - think of the gardener who are thankful that ladybirds eats the greenflies that swarm on rose bushes
* spiders are predators that keep population of flies in balance
* ants aerate the soil (and earthworms do) enabling water and humus/compost to diffuse into the soil making it fertile
* mosquitos are not dangerous in themselves, the malaria is carried by only species, and is parasitic species, which is carried by the Anopheles mosquito.

Those few bugs that manage to enter our home are a very very tiny minority of the population. Best is to stay calm and humanely remove them from our homes. Houseflies are easy to remove, they are attracted to the sunlight, it is a simple matter of turning off indoor lights, and opening the window, and very soon they will fly out through the open window.

I've just been thinking about this, because ever since I saw the beginning of "Fantastic Planet" I've felt really guilty about squashing bugs and snails. But I'm a gardener and don't know what else to do about them! I wish I had chickens I could feed them to, then it would be a natural end.

its also a failed attempot at comparision as being stung or bit is an attack

I can squish small bugs like ants and fleas no problem. Even a fly is fine if I have a flyswatter.

But I would never squish or step on a big bug like a beetle or a roach. Because I'm afraid of the crunch sound it would make. It makes me cringe. T_T

I hate bugs but I cannot squish them either. The feel of doing that disgust me. Once when I was attacked by an angry swarm of honey bees, there were so many of them caught in my long curly hair, I squished them with my fingers. I was getting stung so many times on my head and the buzzing absolutely drove me crazy. Squishing them between my fingers and thumb thoroughly disgusted me.

That's horrible! I'm so sorry. Too bad there wasn't a body of water near :(
