Do you do things in dreams that are out of character?

Whenever my older sister appears in my dreams, I dream about getting into physical fights with her, sometimes to the point of killing her. In one particularly disturbing dream, I dreamt that I beat her over the head with a metal chair until she bled to death.

Although I strongly dislike my sister in real life, I would never pick a fight with her because: a) I wouldn't win and b) she would never forgive me for it (she holds grudges for an extremely long time). Plus, I'm just not a very violent person in general.

I'M THE SAME EXACT WAY WITH MY BROTHER!! !

This afternoon, I actually dreamt of getting into a fight with my brother. In it he tried to beat me with a ball of spikes (which I all avoided) and just as he was going to come in to attack. A woman came out and seduced him and gave me a gun. It either meant that I had to kill my brother or kill myself...

I can't stand being around my brother. He's loud, annoying, cruel, and abusive to everyone. Lately he's actually been acting nicer to me than he has been for years, but this dream really creeps me out because I literally feel I need to get away from him, but I just don't have the ability to do so in my current position...

Confilct beliefs right here... I just can't be around my brother...

I can't really tell because of the way you phrased it, but are you involved in Judo in real life? Because that's pretty out of character for you. I always pictured you as the type to just sit around, listen to the Kinks and watch the world go by.

I'm happy I'm not the only one who has sibling issues that manifest themselves in dreams. :)

I can't stand being around my sister. Nobody in my family likes her. She's very selfish, rude and stuck up. She and I haven't been in an argument for a long time and she seems to want to be closer to me, but I don't trust her because of all the times she has hurt me in the past and the fact that she has never apologized for any of it.

Well, better in dreams than real life. You can wake up before you get in trouble for it.

I actually like my brother, but one time I had a dream that I'd killed him, and was in a panic trying to figure out what I would tell our mother. The fact that I couldn't remember why I killed him made it extra hard to explain.

In my dreams I tend to float and nobody can hear me.

Although in my dreams I rarely meet or see other people it's mostly animals or creatures.

Yes, sometimes I have relations with attractive women in my dreams. 8)

I don't know if I dream at all, maybe I should record it in a notebook?

I seem to forget my trousers a lot when I'm dreaming. In real life I'm not the sort to lose his trousers easily.

Usually my personality is the same and I remember lots of things about being awake and about other dreams I've had an dream places I've been to. The farthest thing from how I am in waking life is fighting. I'll have profoundly violent fights in my dreams that are often deadly. One was a fight where this other woman and I each got a box of meat cleavers to use as weapons and everything moved very quickly - not in that slow motion dream way. And it hurt terribly. I was livid and hurled them at her venomously.

Usually I'm very much a pacifist.

In one of my recent dreams, I slapped my 10-year-old sister and she started crying. Although I often have urges to slap my sister in real life, I never do because I can restrain myself most of the time.

Also, in one dream I had a while back, I tried to have sexual relations with this one guy whom I had a slight crush on in real life, and he kept trying to get away from me.

Yeah. Though mostly it's other people who are out of character, there are times I'm out of character too, for instance, my dad beating up my mom or sister violently, when I've never seen him hit any of us, but the worst part is in the dream sometimes I'm horrified but sometimes I enjoy it, even joining in the violence. One time I dreamt my dad had the dog cooking on a skillet, until she became flattened like a furry pancake. We shouted at him to stop, that he was cooking the dog, but he didn't realize, smiling as the dog sat there whining, immobile. That kind of dream weirds me out when I wake up.

I'm not sure if this is entirely out of character for me but I sometimes have dreams where I'm fighting, killing & destroying stuff & I occasionally dream about kidnapping & harming women :o When I was in high-school & after I graduated I was having lots of sick/twisted fantasies but I quit thinking about that stuff least 7 years ago. In real life I am NOT like that but I occasionally have dreams abut that stuff. I haven't been playing many video-games in the last like 8 years & i don't watch a lot of violent movies so I'm not sure where I'm getting that stuff from

For the most part I'm myself, but occasionally I do things I'd never ever do, like killing or mistreating cats, guinea pigs or bunnies. 8O Always sad and disturbing to wake up after that.

Sometimes I'm not even me in my dreams, but a robot, genetically changed or otherwise not my physical self, and sometimes that makes me do other things in the dream that the real me wouldnt or couldnt.

Other times it's the other people who aren't true to character or just slightly off.,

Most of the things I can't/don't do, and haven't experienced in real life.
Walking above the ground, talking to new people alot, seeing my uncle alive again, being deep underwater and waking up (I'm afraid of being even on the surface of deep water), new terrains/ buildings, flying cars, having sex, superpowers. Too many things to mention.

None of it really surprises me anymore. Dreams are based on our desires and fears, especially the subconscious ones. My life is boring, so my mind creates worlds and experiences I can enjoy. I may be frustrated at someone, so my mind deals with the frustration by having me hurt them in a dream. I want to have people to talk to, so my mind creates them.

That said, I think pyschology should be a required course in public high schools. It would greatly benefit society.
