I have one about the size and shape of an egg on my left side, above the waist line.

...I think it's on my left side....

I have a fairly large one on my upper right arm, but it's little visible nowadays, it has faded over the time. Those birthmarks run in our family - for example, my sister has got a palm-sized one on her back.

so did my sister!

did you know in india there is a tradition where women place red spots in exactly the same place.

Yes. My Mum, tells a story of when I was a baby. I have very dark brown hair and sallow skin. As a baby, I might have passed for Asian, except for my blue eyes. My aunt (who has red hair and freckles) was pushing me along in my pram and an Indian lady stood and stared at me, then my aunt and back at me again. They both laughed when my aunt told her, 'It's real, not painted'.

I don't have any that I'm aware of. What are birthmarks exactly?

I have a cool one, pale skin just under the ribcage on my right side, looks like a spear wound [cue' heavenly or demonic choirs...] unless I stretch it vertically just a little and then in the mirror it looks like Australia minus Tasmania. I also have a tiny wee nubin

My ex found a few on my back. I forgot about them until she pointed them out.

They are a mark on the skin made during birth, usually the size of a coin. I think the most common place is on the forearm but they can appear anywhere on the body, even on intimate parts, the same goes for moles.
