Actually, it's not at all.

As far as I know blood that's going to the heart is blue and blood that's coming out from the heart is red... So yes there should be blue blood in the body...

Actually, all blood is red, venous is simple darker than arterial ... I've had occasion to compare blood from both sources in my own body, and I still have the scars (and the nightmares) to prove it.

Blood that has a high sulfur content may become so dark green as to appear almost black.

LOL no, that's just used in diagrams to differentiate the two.

And don't automatically believe what someone says just because of their qualifications. If a doctor told you your foot will fall off tomorrow without any signs of a disease like gangrene, would you believe them?

I don't really see blue in it... but that is debatable and that wasn't the point. The point is that blood is never this blue (and I was told that it is):

I have a casual friend who thought that when she was little.

When I asked how babies were born, my mom said that you asked God to put a baby in your tummy and the baby came out of there. I'm not saying anything about my religious beliefs either way, that's what I was told! (I guess what I said would be sort of true in the opinion of a religious person, but that's not really how the baby literally gets inside the mother even in the opinion of a religious person)

I was also told that babies push on the mom's tummy to try and get out of it.

no, it is blue as it goes through thr first stage of pumping and turns red in the lungs, where it is then pumped back into the heart and then onto the body.

Are we really having an argument over the color of blood here?

Yes. Much the same with me...
Except I attended Catholic, Baptist and Lutheran schools at different times in my childhood, so even the totally untrue things were far from consistent. Perhaps it was the perpetual mixed messages that led me to question their authenticity in the first place...

Oh, I was told that too! lol

(yeah, i heard that one too, but i recall that this originated from my schoolmates.)

edit: it's an optical illusion ( blue veins) and blood varies between dark & light red from O2 content. Veins are white.
