Well they are, but I don't think for that reason. But really, I have no clue.

If I knew what a quacky pseudo-science Orthodontics was I'd of never suffered the pain and agony of those things in my adolescence.

It did bugger all for the shape of my teeth

Depending how severe your teeth were at the beginning, you might only have to wear one for a year. I wore a small moulded one all the time. I think even at night but was told I didn't need it after awhile. I was 19.

Bleck. I had a pretty bad overbite, ans spacing between my top teeth, with some slight crowding on my bottom.

yea i had same, overbite so bad they had to take 2 molars off to make space and huge gap in the front. they were better but i lost my retainer (or i should say my mom lost it for me then blamed me for it) afteer a few months and well they moved a bit but not nearly as much as i thought they would. ive tracked it and they seem to have stopped moving now.

That's what they did to me! Not molars though, actual teeth. :( I personally think my teeth look too small now. But it's better than having the overbite. I looked really stupid. :P After I got braces, my mom even admitted I looked dumb before. XD

You don't need braces, Chrissyrun. :) I noticed you have those adorable little "fangs" I think look good on people.

What is meant by I will feel "slimy"?

cant explain better than that. Youll know what i mean when they come off.

@Spazzergasm, congratulations on having the braces removed! I imagine you understand what MXH was talking about now :)

You've probably been told by your ortho about how long to expect the retainer. This depends on how much adjustment was made. My schedule was 1 year long, but I didn't have a lot of space adjustments made.

(off-topic) I do wish the ortho had noticed the *fourth* molars growing in my goddamn upper jaw though. The third molars erupted a couple of years ago (and damn did that hurt), but it was nothing compared the surprise of feeling my 4th molars growing under the soft tissue behind the thirds, waiting to burst out :(

This is so sweet of you to remember!
But um, actually I kind of miscounted really bad. XD I get them off this Wednesday...  I fail at math.

ERGH. I HATE wisdom teeth. I had all mine removed, but before I did, one was erupting, and there was this loose flap of meat that basically died while attached to me, and I pulled it off, and it was disgusting. :eew:
