What's with all the insulting? Why is it necessary and what does it accomplish? Ain't nothing wrong with being a furry, there are far worse things in the world, go worry about one of those if you need something to fuss and complain about.

One of my heroes, Fox McCloud, is a fox-man, but I am not a furry.

I could be considered one because of the art i draw, but i don't label myself as one. This is because of all the nasty fetishy stuff and the butthurt way many furries react to trolls.

Josh, you're my favorite. <3 You come from a fandom where 97% of the people are either really stupid or plain insane. The furry fandom is just like that and I'm in your same position.

I'm a dilophosaur. I'm trying to make a mammalian fursona, but that's proving to be quite hard. I have 4 real life friends in the fandom and I've been in it for 4 months. Two of them suit, two of them don't. One is a dxed aspie and another is more aspie than me but hasn't been dxed.
I brought one of my friends to an Autism Speaks Walk last Saturday. It was quite interesting. I was attending to troop with the 501st and Rebel Legion.

I'm not the kind that goes around wearing cat or dog or fox ears at ever con. But I'm building a partial fursuit to costume at furry-specific cons.

First of all, you kids are working off of generalizations based upon the population on the internet. When you meet them in real life, they're more or less the same as any other type of nerd. Best try to meet some outside of their suits though, because most furries in suits either won't speak or can't speak/hear well. Even the ones that do have a fetish aren't necessarily going to talk about it. I see a lot of furries online who'll mention yiff every once and a while and never speak of it again. A census determined that 70% of the fandom is interested in yiff to a degree and the remaining 30% isn't. What you have to do is look at it like an alternative version of hentai(among otaku culture) as opposed to zoophilia or bestiality. When I spent like a year kind of verging on entering the fandom(Summer 2010-May 2011), I kept myself from joining something because I let other peoples' expectations and the bad things in the fandom keep me away and I regret doing that because the fandom is pretty cool once you're acquainted with it.

So, I've made 6 friends independent of my roommate. 4 are furries. 1 of said furries is diagnosed with Asperger's. Two of the others, twins, are very likely Aspie, but that's not something I ask. I became friends with these guys as a result of being a furry. One of the reasons why I joined the fandom was because when I expand my afilliations, my chances of making friends increase. The things that the fandom is based around are legitimately interesting to me, but for a long time I had difficulty with the prospect of joining with a group that I was undecided about.

I do not understand it and I make fun of things I do not understand because it helps me cope with their existence.

Carry on.

You guys are just weird. I like to dress like my favorite mathematical formulas...

N = ( R* x fp x ne x fl x fi x fc) x L

Most people in the fandom don't suit. I have little interest in suiting, but I don't mind it if my friends suit when they accompany me to conventions.

Did anyone notice what the formula is?

I've never understood the hatred of furries that pervades the interwebs. It's an odd fetish, but a lot of fetishes seem odd to me. I'd imagine most furries find bestiality as repellent as the next person.

I don't know if I'm really considered a furry or not. I like animal characters a lot, but I like human characters as well. I do mostly draw animal characters, but humans not very often.

Dude, people pull your mind out of the gutter. Grow up. being a furry is little different than being an anime fan. I'm a furry, but I have very high sexual morals. I even told my mormon bishop that I'm a furry, and he approved.

Anyway, my fursona is an anthopomorphic cat named mike. He is almost exactly like me, but he is in an alternate universe populated with anthros. I chose a cat, because, you know, all cats have aspergers. X3
