When I was younger getting a haircut was torture. Some random stranger who I'd never met before would try to wrestle me into the hair washing sink with the neck thing that made me feel like I was being strangled. Then they'd get me with the hot noisy blow dryer, then pull my hair trying to brush out the tangles they made with the blow dryer
. My hair used to be really long, like down to my butt, when I was little because of the whole traumatic ordeal of getting a haircut. When I was in 3rd and 4th grade my mom worked as a massage therapist at a hair salon, so I got to know the ladies who worked there from hanging out there all the time. From then til this year Julie was the only person I'd let cut my hair. And she'd do it for free too since we were close friends. I looked at her price list once and what I usually got done once I was in junior high and high school would've cost $150+
. Recently her husband was injured so she's been home taking care of him. I'd usually only get a hair cut 3 or 4 times a year, and I was due for another one, but Julie was busy, and I can't afford, nor do I trust anyone else to do my hair. I've been cutting dog hair for 5 years now, so I knew I had the technical scissor skills, it was just a matter of if I could get the style right. My mom offered to pay for someone else to cut it or to do it herself, but I don't trust anyone else, and I knew she'd try to make it girly and with those straight across bangs that I think look ridiculous on me. So I just did it myself a couple of weeks ago, and I really like how it turned out. I don't think I'll ever go to a salon for a haircut again (eyebrow waxing is another matter lol). I'll have to post some pictures soon if I can get my camera to cooperate again.
