Sometimes they just don't like HOW the answer is given. It may not have anything to do with WHAT the answer actually is.

I think more often than not that's what happens here. But it is true too that sometimes it doesn't matter how an answer is given if it's not what the OP wants.

People forget that most of us here have a problem in that area. Especially those of us that have the problem. It's a tricky but interesting thing. If you just sit back and read without posting anything here for long enough you can see the Aspieness at work all over the place.

I often wonder why someone would ask for opinions, insist on honesty, and then react badly. I mean, why would someone ask (for example), "Do these sunglasses make me look stupid?" if he or she is not prepared to be told that those sunglasses make him or her look stupid?

If they really want an honest opinion, then why get upset?

If they really want an opinion that makes them feel good, then why ask for honesty?

This is why I don't ask if anyone thinks I'm handsome, intelligent, witty, wise, or a better lover than her husband - I don't want to hear them say, "No".

What is it with some people?

What if the OP asks "does anyone else like this show?" rather than state "I want to hear conspiracy theories about plagiarism."?

Another situation where I find myself asking that question is when somebody asks how I've made it through life as an autistic person. I tell the person that I've made it through life just fine, like most people do. Why do you ask? It's fun to see the other person jump back in amazement like they weren't expecting the answer that I gave them. :)
