that quote always reminds of objects that mean something to you. like, the letters you write to an old friend. you can send 29 letters that say "hi, how are you" and that's all. those letters are pretty pointless aren't they?

Erm.. sorry, I disagree.

"Hi, how are you?" messages to and from a relative stranger mean very little in retrospect. However, similar messages from a valued friend can mean a great deal, especially if they come to represent a certain series of events or a particularly valuable time in your friendship. Looking back, the messages themselves may say very little, but the memories they trigger in your head can mean an awful lot.

I always keep letters. I appreciate the effort that has gone into them, and the historical record of how we felt and thought as friends back then, and for the memories they help to unlock within my own head.

I kind of contradicted myself there, but never mind.

In general, I'd rather have quality than quantity in most circumstances. What's the point of having a large quantity of something which is s**t?

When it comes to personal letters, text messages and e-mails, though, it's always nice to hear from a friend. The very fact that they're bothering to say "Hello, how are you?" is a good thing, because it means they're thinking about me. SO... messages are quality items.

If there is a CHOICE between quality and quantity, quality wins every time.

But obviously, if it is possible to have both quality AND quantity, then that's even better.

Probably.

I'm not bad, thanks. I have a new Alfa Romeo to play with, I'm changing jobs in a week's time, my ex-girlfriend is talking to me again, my best friend returns from travelling the world very soon, and I have inherited enough money to put a 10% deposit down on a house.

Despite all of these good things I have been feeling depressed lately, for reasons I do not fully understand, but today it has gone away. And this week at work has been great because I no longer have to care.

So, how are you?

Feeling fatigued. I may have been accidently poisoned by the meds I've been on. I went off them several days ago, thus the multiple posts today. Wish I had an Afa Romeo. All I can afford is a 1982 Mercedes diesel. Of course, I don't have the energy to tinker with any car these days. I live for the day I can make a down payment on a 308 Ferrari.

Thanks for asking, old mate.

Hmm.. would a reduced dosage be better than suddenly giving up the meds completely?

Old Alfas aren't expensive to buy, but they are expensive to keep going. It either costs a lot of personal time or a lot of money. Or one can simply buy a semi-decent one for peanuts and then run it into the ground, which is my method of choice. If you want reliability I'd stick with the Merc.

Ferraris? I'll have a 288GTO and a 512BB, please! 8)

What do you mean by a reduced dosage?
