I've seen that dog for over a year, I'd be kind of shocked to see it changed.

(Yeah, while I was typing this, I failed at typing "shocked.")

I have used mine in many different places over the years and see no reason to change it. It fits me too well, considering my Eeyore like personality traits and tendency to put myself down before others can do it for me. As much as I may try to change it, that always seems to follow me around.

I change mine too often, but it used to be just pictures of me, until I got tired of that.

I haven't changed mine since I first joined, and probably won't unless I find another one I like better - but it will always be something to do with DJing, so it probably wouldn't throw anyone off too much.

I was thinking of asking certain people "are you ever going to change your avatar?" Especially if it's a photo, what will happen if it gets outdated?

I'm usually the same way as well unles I'm very familiar with the name. It also confuses me when people have the same avatar. I confuse the person with another person. Also, some avatars make me think of the person being a male or female regardless of whether that's true or not and then later when I click on their profile or see their picture I find that I was mistaken.

I've have various avatars but the current one fits the most comfortably. Besides, changing it will likely confuse some members.

This avatar might be the second or third last avatar I'll use

What do you actually look like in real life?

I picture people as looking like their avatars (pretty weird in some cases 8O ) so yeah, it's confusing when they change.

Also, it's a good thing that users can't change their usernames, because when I meet people on the internet, I always think of them as the name/description by which I first knew them, even if I later learn a real name. (Years ago, I made a friend online who lived locally and asked me to go for lemonade; she was only ever Lemonade Girl to me after that.)

I get confused too and now I'm trying to remember people by their names. That's why I picked a nice easy name when I joined up.

I might change mine soon... I know I overuse this one and people I know will easily be able to identify me by it. My new one will probably be something mushroom related.
