The 3 Variable Funny Test http://www.okcupid.com/tests/the-3-variable-funny-test

Quote:

(33% dark, 35% spontaneous, 89% vulgar)
your humor style:
VULGAR | COMPLEX | LIGHT

Yours is the most versatile and also the most popular kind of humor. You'll crack a joke about just about anything, but you're not mean-spirited or intimidating, so you can get away with it--even when, for example, you bust on Mexicans.

You appreciate a good dirty joke as much as next person, but, over all, you've got a brainier approach to humor than most. Now just go out there and write up a routine; it's likely you'd be good at it.

PEOPLE LIKE YOU: Dave Chappelle - Rodney Dangerfield

i do not know what the "genre" of the type of humor i like is called. i like to say stupid things that seem partially logical, but are otherwise ridiculous with a straight face so that people can not tell whether i am serious or not. i do not share my humor. i laugh in my own world at the absurdities that i think of, and the bewildered expressions of the faces of those who scratch their heads after i tell them of what i have thought are hilarious to me. i try not to let on that i am not serious because once they know i am joking, the joke is over for me.

a couple of examples of my internal jokes that i may say to people who have already decided that i am credible (but then back pedal seriously after i say what i say) are...

"i have the worst of luck! last night i stayed up until 3am to watch a TV show called 'station closed' which went for 4 hours, so i knew it was going to be an epic, and wouldn't you know it? at the very moment the show was supposed to come on, my TV set lost reception, and to rub salt into the wound, the TV reception returned at the exact moment the movie ended"

"i like to park in disabled car spaces, but people always approach me angrily demanding to know what disability i have, so to get around that, i bought a labrador with a harness and some dark sunglasses, and now every time i get out of the car, people just walk calmly on by"

i have many more, but i do not spend much time trying to think of things like that, so my repertoire is limited.

i am not interested in other peoples jokes, because unless i think of them, i do not find them funny. i have no interest in comedians, however i found a comedian who does make me laugh because he is like me but to a much more sophisticated degree. he is brilliant in my opinion, and he is the only comedian i am enthusiastic to hear. it is a pity that his style of humor is not as successful as mainstream styles of humor, and as a result, there is very little material i can find on you tube that contains him.

i do not like every joke he says, but he does think similarly to me, and i find most of his jokes to be funny.

in this clip, i did not like the joke about the ping pong balls in the crotch or the story about when he slept with his 2 girlfriends, but the rest are very funny.

the first 40 seconds of this clip should have been cut out by the poster of the video because he comes on after 40 seconds. also the audience is boring and they laugh only in a token way seemingly, whereas i developed cramps in my stomach and tears in my eyes when i saw this.

here is another clip with very amusing material in my opinion. the audio is much louder than the previous on.

i had already made up a joke about fridge lights before i saw this.

I like surreal humor, to an extent.

Irony, wit and deadpan humour.

I like quirky, self-deprecating, Flight of the Conchords–style humour, too.

sometimes i am aware that i am going to go into a laughing mood, and i know it is inevitable that within minutes i will be laughing heartily to myself about something. it is a sense of absurdity that comes over me, and i start to find many things funny, but i can never tell people exactly what i find funny because it would take a type of energy to describe it which is not available to me when i am in that mood.
sometimes i even start to laugh at nothing more than the thought that i am soon going to laugh at nothing, and that, in turn, seems even funnier and the process starts to snowball until i just have to go home.

sometimes, i capitalize on the fact that i am going to laugh at anything by saying a spontaneously made up joke that makes no humerous sense to who ever is listening, and then allowing myself to go into a fully fledged laughter fit that looks like i am laughing at the joke i just said.

example: what is the similarity between a spanish onion grown in italy and the nearside rear wheel of a 1994 subaru imprezza ? .......... they both look round when viewed from above ! !! !

then i will allow myself to go into the building laughing fit that i was already about to have (that had nothing to do with the joke), and make it look like i find the joke i said hilariously funny.
people look dumbfoundedly at me as a result and i then almost choke with laughter.

as i age, i should curtail that impulse because it may cause a stroke or heart attack one day.
