It's very nasal over here (northern midwest) which is not the most attractive accent.

Many Americans seem to have learned a dialect called "Profanics". It's like Ebonics, except...

The "F" word is both a noun and a verb, and with the "-ing" suffix replaces all adverbs and adjectives.

The "S" word is mainly a pronoun, but with the "-ing" suffix it becomes an action verb.

Other profane words can be used to replace commas, colons, semicolons, and hyphens.

English has always used prefixes ( like the 'pre' in the word 'prefix'), and suffixes (like the 'ing' ending). But linguists are saying that americans have now, for the first time in the entire history of the English language and all its farflung dialects, started using an "infix" ( a unit of meaning stuck in the middle of a word). Other exotic languages have always used infixes, but never English until now.

That newly minted infix is "FAAAAR F**KING OUT!"

What is considered the best American accent by Americans? The standard number one accent? Is it the accent of CNN?

I don't think I have an accent I'm from northern California. I know people from New York and in southern states have accents. I don't like the New york accent or New Jersey.

I kind of like a slight southern accent. I wouldn't really say any American accent is the best, though.

You know, I've never been clear on the difference in accent between a Noo Yawka and someone from Jurr-zee. But then, here in Holland, we see a lot more of New York on TV than New Jersey.

It's funny how Canadians think they have American accents when they sound pretty much nothing like this. They sound more like this:

Etz kind of inter-es-ting hou Amerakinz tauk. Canadians mi-i'te hahve a hard taim PRO-cessing et on there mob-EYE-ol phones, but they sound diff-er-rent from the Amerakinz they heer on television.

Maybe that's because Canadian is a kind of French English mix.

I must admit that their profanity is, to say the least, extremely creative.
The "f-word" can be a noun, adjective, verb, or any qualifier.
The way they use the language is very imaginative.
I enjoy the "Philly" accent, as heard in the "Rocky" movies. Although it sometimes sounds like they have marbles in their mouth, it's fun to listen to.
