That's a favourite theory of mine, that people expand to fit the size of their vehicles. Anyone else noticed that? When you look at older types of cars (in the UK anyway) like from the 60's and 70's they were a lot narrower then than they are now. Maybe it's like the goldfish grows bigger if it's put in a bigger tank effect.

I have studied plant tissue culture and the effect works in reverse
for sure. A plant growing in a tissue culture in a very small container will revert to a mini-version of the full size plant.
