Cats of all ages are great! Maine Coons are wonderful cats. I don't have one myself, but I know someone who does and that cat is wonderful, big and friendly. Cats of all breeds, mixed breeds, all ages are wonderful. When you find the right cat, you'll know. Sometimes, that cat will find you. All of the cats I have found me in some way.

Same here. Schmoo found me. I was in my dad's garage, and this fat black and white spotted cat came up to me, obviously hungry. So I took her in to my care.
About two months later, she became very sick, and she wouldn't eat or drink. So we took her to the vet, and they told us she only had a little while longer to live. But they gave us a drip to give her.
She improved immediately. :D:D
I love her so much.

Doesn't anybody get Gerbils for a pet ???

I would rather feed the cat some salmon that way we would have something we both enjoy.

Rodents tend to die quicker.

and boy do they make a lot of noise at night(before they die).

I agree. Rodents have terribly short lifespans. We had a hamster that lived to be two years old, a long life for that particular species, but unacceptably short for an animal in our home. I have had many cats and dogs that lived at least 15 years, including a 20 year old Siamese.

If you want a certain breed of cat, check out local rescue organizations. The cat site I'm on has several excellent Siamese rescue organizations.

If you put a towel over their cage during the day they think day is night and will sleep at night and play during the day like you would with a pet bird... of course don't cover all their places to breath. they may live short but they reproduce enough to provide you with years of rodents, which you, if you are like my mom, may think is a bad thing.
